Simple. The sport is interesting enough without em.

after the game, after racing onto the field and see how many players we could tag...how strange is that looking back.....'WOW, I got 6!!' .
yeah..how cool was it punting through a few from just outside the square after the game (the 10 metre square of course)...kick to kick on the members side wing at the G.....3 or 4 different packs all flying at the same time colliding.... with thousands of footies going in every direction!
Come to think of it.....if anything needs to be brought back to the game, that is it....every young kid should have the opportunity stand on the G and send one though the middle and acknowledge the crowd.

Ah, memories.I can remember how cool I thought I was as a kid after I'd kicked a goal on the MCG (Probably from 12m out, but at least that proved I was a more accurate shot for goal than Richo!).
I remember when my Dad would launch a big torp 30m over my head so he could have a rest, and then I'd have to weave my way through big packs, pick up the odd loose ball, dodge past bigger kids chasing and tackling and risk becoming a Jerker Jenkins for somebody else's "Jesaulenko, you beauty!"; all the while keeping my eyes fixed on my black and yellow footy just in case some dodgy bugger nicked it while I was getting cleaned up.![]()
I agree, all kids should get the chance to do this once in a while. Surely the MCG could handle a little bit of wear? Maybe a couple of times a season? Could the Richmond board negotiate this with the MCG for a couple of low drawing games and market it to the tiger faithful?

Gets my vote too! Even if only at selected games at selected times of the year to suit the ground. At the VFL games here it is bloody awesome seeing the ground literally covered at halftime with exactly this stuff. Kids having fun with their Dads and learning how good this game is. Grassroots!
Problem is in this day and age some money hungry bugger would roll his knee on the turf and sue the pants off the AFL for providing an unsafe environment.
The threat of litigation will likely prevent this from being reintroduced.![]()
A disclaimer on the ticket plus signs at the gate entries would fix that. Stuff the PC police, I am so sick of bowing to minority views.
What has this got to do with Political Correctness?
I think you'll find that there are sections of society that blame anything on political correctness as illuminating stereotypes threatens them.
Don't be duped , find out what's behind the stereotype. You may find the minority is the majority.
P.S. It would be great to have a kick on the ground again.
You are right LVAK i probably used the incorrect acronym but for mine political correctness was the platformn for our somewhat idiotic, americanised, litigation based society of today. Worrying about a kid skinning his knee whilst having fun at a public venue rates right up there with stopping Panadol and Tippex in offices to prevent suiciders. If a litigation based methology is the best we can use for resolving disputes or managing society then all is lost, stereotypes and all. I am fast becoming a minority group myself, called rational, law abiding, common sense driven and tax paying. I am longing for the day when some idiot politican decides to disenfranchise us once and for all to satisfy yet another minority group, I mean stereotype!
*Dismounts soap box and wonders why my kids say I'm old n jaded!*
Wheres me Horlicks and a glass for me teeth? lmao
Don't worry , I've become all old and ranty as you can tell![]()
