i wanted tenance initially

however:

winderlich and walsh are both lightening with more complete games.

bradley was too good an opportunity to pass up

we have a plethora of talented quick young midifielders.

2002 and 2003 draft will net at least 6 100 game + players

Winderlich should end up being a better player than Tenace. He's got a bit of freak about him, a James Hird like ability to be one step ahead of the rest and create opportunities out of nothing.

As for Walsh, not sure.

At this stage, Tenace is a more complete player than both, but it could be argued that Winderlich and Walsh both have more upside.

At this stage, yes, but Winderlich has bigger potential. Tenace has three main attributes: Pace, Ball-getting, Disposal. Winderlich is not quite up to Tenace's level in those three areas, but is significantly better overhead, is extremely quick-thinking, reads the play very well, creates something out of nothing, has more "freak factor".

Dyson has freak factor written all over him.....would love to see winderlich and Dyson burning up their respective wings in the wizard cup

I think Stanton will get a run before Dyson, but, if fit, Winderlich is almost a certainty for the pre-season comp.

Dont think so stevo. Stanton will be on a modified program due to severe oestietis pubis. Dyson on the other hand is ready to go.

I would be very surprised from what i have heard about Stanton if he plays any senior football at all next year.

And where did you here this?

Apparently Stanton had OP throughout the year and only played three quarters from each game. Whether he has recovered or not, I don't know.

Of all young players on our list:

WINGERS/FLANKERS
Joel Reynolds
Darren Walsh
Adam McPhee
Ben Haynes

Of which you would be confident that all of these will have solid to very good careers.

INSIDE MIDFIELDERS
Jobe Watson
Jason Winderlich
Marc Bullen

Of which you would be confident that Winderlich will be very good, Bullen will be solid. Watson is the unpredictable one.

DEVELOPING TALLS
Tristan Cartledge
Jason Laycock
Courtney Johns
Ted Richards
Aaron Henneman
Sam Hunt
David Hille

Of which you would be confident that Hille and Laycock will have great careers. Johns, Richards and Hunt look very promising, whilst the jury is out on Henneman and Cartledge.

So quite clearly, our deficiency is our inside midfield positions. This is why I would have taken Kane Tenace over Kepler Bradley. Of course Bradley has a big upside, but so too do Johns, Laycock and Hille etc. But with a bigger upside you also have a bigger downside. Tenace was the safe option, yet we chose to gamble. Whether this gamble turns out to be a good one we will see in two years time. But I would have thought we'd have learnt our lesson from taking gambles with early picks (Davies, McAlister, Harvey, Bolton).

I hope I am wrong.

Come on Stevo. Surely you are only posting in jest. You love Tenace :p

Tenace has more class than Winderlich, but Winderlich can do the extraordinary.

Everyone keeps saying we need young developing inside midfielders..what a load of crap..ever heard of development of the speedy wingers etc to play that role? The sort of thing that Sheedy and his assistants have been marvels in. Besides all that, we still have Mark and Jason Johnson as well (and Peverill is not that old either). There's your hardness (I'd say Peverill is a million times better than Tenace will be as he has proven himself at the highest level and can also deny opponents the ball, whilst getting plenty of it himself).

Not all wingers are meant to be in-and-under players.

The JJ is great, and Mark Johnson and Peverill are handy (and I think it's fairly safe to say that Tenace will become a better player than Peverill) but lack genuine pace and class. Bullen and Watson are similar.

We need Winderlich and Haynes to come on, and Reynolds could be a smokey, he's a real goer.

reynolds and winderlich [jason especially] will be in and outside midfielders.

reynolds will be devastating due to his height, pace and marking ability.

winderlich is lightening quick and is very very tough at the contest

we have an awesome array of youn talent.

IMO the following will all have very good careers. all 22 and under i have ranked them in order [i.e. best player first] on what we've seen and potential.

cupido
hille
winderlich
reynolds
welsh
johns
laycock
mcphee
richards
walsh
watson
bullen
haynes

add in this year's draftees and others i have missed and the future is looking awesome

It's always a laugh to see guys like Fletch and Spider Burton bounding through the middle with the footy - now we've got this guy, who could be a real gun midfielder, and do it 20 times a game. I can't f***ing wait.

Agree from the footage I saw he could play On ball a cult figure waiting to happen. Think of the roar of Bradlet kicking a crumbed a goal off Lloyd or Johns blokes smaller than he is.

dont worry about the bomber recruiting staff they know what their doing. This kid will be something big and players of his calibar dont come around too often.
Whoever have doubted picking Keps at 6 just wait and see this kid play before passing judgement;)

Thank Christ there's a couple of punters on here that know what they're are talking about. Why don't you Tenace lovers wake up to yourselves and come to terms with the fact that he's not at Essendon and probably never will be.

No Sh*t sherlock.

I think Bradley is a good pick and he will be a good player for the Bombers. Would have been better if we could have got Tenace or McLean as well but that didn't happen and I think yakuza is right and we have to move on.

You can't be serious ranking Haynes at the bottom of that list? And, Adam McPhee should be above Winders, possibly Hille as well.

Winderlich should be right up the top with Laycock. They are the two most talented youngsters at the club.

Cupido also has huge talent, but he needs to show that he can be more than a one-position player.

I second that Stegelator:

Why?

Why, Stevo, does Cupido have to play anywhere else? Did Bewick do anything else other than be a pain to other clubs around goal? Cupido played off the back wing often in the second half of the season and did it reasonably well for a player who wasn't used to it.

But that to me is beside the point. He was recruited to slam on quick goals at important moments and if he can continue to improve at this then why does he have to do anything else?
