now that ive got your attention, here's a couple of IF's.
Roosy is saying Hall will come back at 85%, so:
IF the young bloods go well this weekend,
IF the forward line fires without Hall even on the ground
IF the whole team fires up
IF we beat Geelong
IF Hall is still not right next week,
then why not rest him for a bit longer and get him up to 90-95% (if possible), give the young bloods some more game time, and bring back Hally closer to the finals, where he can play out the year and still have an impact?

we still have TK to come back as well... and we all saw what happened to him when he came back too early.

any thoughts......

Lots of 'ifs' there.

How about we wait and see how the forward line functions tomorrow without him there and then discuss?

I do remember we were nervous about how it was going to function without him for 5 weeks back in 2002 and it actually coped quite well. That marked the start of the emergence of ROK from fringe player to very good player (and then on to AA standard in subsequent seasons).

However, I suspect the forward line has become slightly more Hall-conscious since 2002 as he has gradually become a better player. And back in 2002 we were just playing the end of the season for pride - not for finals chances which are still a realistic aim this year.

Saw that Hally might need an op!:o

Does anyone have the scale?... like I mean.... what exactly does 85% mean and what changes when player is 90%.

Blows my mind that neither Vogels or Grundy are named in the side but I defer to those who I trust know much more than me (Roosey)

Why the hell were they constantly kicking to Hally when injured and had 2 or 3 on him?

I think they will try to Hally back ASAP but if we are in a situation where finals are out of the question he will have the groin operation. Personally I'm with swannykika if we perform well this weekend and the forward line goes okay give him the next two games against Freo & Carlton and have him back for the big one at Subi.

I don't get what they mean he is 80% fit or 90%. Is that even a good scale to rate his condition and etc?

What worries me is that we have become so Hall focused that our other forwards never get the chance. I quite like Hall being dropped, which in turn means, we can bring in new blood, and give our other forwards (the midfielders forgot we had other forwards) opportunities.

Laidlaw might be spending more time in the forwards, which is good I think. I wouldn't mind if Hall doesn't play against Freo next week. His injury is affecting his confidence, form and marking ability. And when he is playing bad, he gets frustrated and for some reason, his frustration just spreads quickly on to the team.

folks, if we cant win without Hall, then all the talk about being the 'bloods' and playing as a team and not relying on 1 2 or 3 players is BS. This is a true test of whether or not, all the talk of being the bloods, is just that, all talk and meaningless bravado, or the real thing... 24 hrs from now and we will know.

For some reason, I think we'll play quite well without Hall. Its just the fact that we are too Hall-focused that we have to constantly kick it to Hall, who in turn drops easy marks, or fails to lead. And that probably one of the factors as to why we have poor delivery to our forwards.

We have an open forward line but its mind boggling that we still kick it to Hall who is always surrounded by 2/3 players. And his attitude when no one kicks to him really scares the team and and that only forces us to continously kick it to Hall (if that made sense). His negative and frustrated attitude is very noticable, even Waklein mentioned it, and that negativity tends to be passed onto the players. Its really upsetting and disappointing. One of our co-captain should've lead by example and keep his chin high. But in saying that, Hall did work is butt off that night, but he just worked too hard and dropping easy marks didn't help him at all.

I read the papers this morning, and ROK said something about Swans will be playing very differently against the Cats tomorrow. I don't know, but we'll just have to wait and see. As they say, action speaks louder than words, and clearly last week's performance was less action and more talk. Plus, I think they've been eating their spinach. Things might pan out well tomorrow if we continue to eat spinach :thumbsu:

It is clear that Hall has been frustrated by a variety of things but from what I've seen, it's rarely been because the team doesn't kick it to him. Earlier in the season he was deliberately trying to lead wide to pockets, taking his multiple minders with him, to clear space in the 'hot spot' and was getting frustrated with his team mates still kicking the ball to him in the pocket.

I think he is far more team orientated than you are giving him credit for.

thats fine but if thats the case, then this should have been a team plan, and everyone should have known about it. This lack of communication, whether on or off the field is one of the swans problems this year...

If anyone has had a groin injury they would know even functioning at 90% is a struggle. Simple sideway movement is uncomfortable.

Is a week off enough to heal from a groin injury?
He already had a week of during the split round and that didnt help.
Risking any underdone players in a game like this is, is a very big gamble, i remember Thomas doing it a couple of times and ending up with no bench just about.
Is a week enough for a team to break a habit of kicking to Hall over the last 4 years?
If hes underdone we are taking away important game time from another potential future player for the club.
I want to see Baz back to his menacing best though i dont think its in the best interest of the team to rush him back, if last weeks 2nd half is anything to go by we have to back our selves into this game and believe that were good enough to win without him.

According to Roosy, Hall could be back, which I'm pretty upset about. It means we have drop someone, and I have a feeling they're going to drop someone who doesn't deserved to be dropped.

Hall was watching the the coaches box and I probably would think he was itching to play. I think he'll return at the expense of Vogels/Schmidt or possibly Nick Davis.

so am i.. he should have another week or 2 off get fully fit and come back playing like the star he is.. we need to leave one of these guys in the team still..
im watching the freo game and he is going to have do run like hell this week, and i dont think the team will simply look for other options in the fwd line with him there.
