Why does everyone hate bt or anyone who brings enthusiasm.

From that wce game vs melbourne game the commentators there were so BORING. Seriously did anyone else fall asleep with that commentary team?

Even thought BT may barrack for a team every now and then it is better then a boring dwayne (or whoever commentated the wce vs melbourne game).

Seriously Brian Taylor doesn't put me to sleep he is actually enthusiastic.

He is good on radio

He works far better with the MMM team because they have a sense of humour
The Channel 7 team could slot into lawn bowls and you wouldnt notice a change of intensity

That's why people don't like him, he stands out from the crowd (on C7)

That and social media has opened up the world for people to whinge about everything

I'm in the ok camp with him

I like his enthusiasm for Calder footy factory and so on

...I like all that stuff

I generally disagree with his interpretation of events, plus he seems to not understand many of the more technical rules while still being very opinionated.

He has a very limited vocabulary- when a big moment comes he fails to sum it up accurately, isn't quick with his words and is slow to recognise players.

Typical BT commentary when a goal is kicked from the boundary:

"AND THERE HE GOES WITH A.... BIG... RIPPER!! *cut to commercials*"

On channel 7, there is no naturalness about any of his commentary, it seems tryhard, canned and contrived. Its as if he is holding himself back in a way and the result is a caricature of his true personal commentating style.

Everything seems more natural with him on radio, as if he isn't stuck in his head and is just expressing himself.

Because he doesn't know half the players.

I watched one Adelaide game he was commentating earlier in the year and he was calling a Crow player some name from another team!!!

Then he goes on and drivels some pointless rant which 70% of the time is sheer stupidity and wrong!

I used to love him. Would watch Sunday Twilight games week in week out. Then 2010 happened. He went from a good commentator who shoed passion to someone who thought he was the GOAT and just sprouted shit and started to root for teams mid-game!. Rd 1 2010. Adelaide coming off a 5th place spot and Fremantle a 14th place spot. And he spent the whole game supporting Fremantle and going on and on and on about Michael ****ing Barlow.

pre-2010 - Loved him
The rest of his foxtel career - tolerated him
Channel 7 - ****, I put the foxtel sat night game on tv on principle just to avoid listening to that imbecile commentate a game of footy.

I think there is a place for BT. And that place is MMM. He is a master of stuffing around. And that is what they do there. I'm not being judgemental about that - if you like your footy commentary to be entertainment first, that's fine. But the default TV commentary should be about the footy, not about stuffing around. And BT talks about anything but footy. He talks about nicknames, he spins sh!t, he teases his co-commentators. He's like a kid with ADD. And on the rare occasions he stumbles onto actual footy talk it is often inaccurate. That is not what the prime commentary on the TV broadcast should be like.

You say you want enthusiasm - and that's why you don't like Dwayne Russell. Well, I query how much footy you watch. Because BT is not always enthusiastic. Sometimes he makes no effort to hide his lack of interest in a game - and that's when the distractions go into overdrive. Dwayne Russell by contrast is always enthusiastic. That also annoys some people because they feel it is forced. But that is an issue for another thread.

My view - is that BT is absolutely brilliant on The Sunday Rub. He's the most entertaining blowhard in the footy world by a long stretch. But if BT is the successor to Bruce McAvaney, then I find that pretty depressing.

He rarely does his homework on the players taking the park, his grasp on the English language is tenuous at best, he speaks over his (marginally) more insightful and entertaining colleagues, once in a blue moon when he does pick up a footy record and flips through to the teams he picks one player and raves about them all game, he loses interest in games and starts to barrack, he can't cop it back after dishing it out all night, he makes up ridiculous nicknames (the package, come on), he uses the term 'footy factory' with reckless abandon, and I just don't like the look of him.

Total cocksplash. I actively avoid his commentary by attending Saturday night matches whenever I can.

Yep this x100000 I rem the good old days when 9 had the rights , the commentary team had the right chemistry . Bt belongs with Jim and Garry not people who can are monotone like Darcy

He is quite a bit better on TripleM, probably because those guys manage to mix actual football knowledge with being a bunch of clowns rather well.

On channel 7 he is a catchphrase spewing idiot who barely can describe the game outside of the most obvious remarks and regulary gets players names wrong if he hasnt already labeled them with his own idiotic nickname.

Also insert "Bryan taylor ruins football" youtube clip here.

The difference between radio and TV is that you have to describe the play more on radio as you don't have pictures people can follow.

Unfortunately, this allows TV commentators to wax lyrical about anything but what is happening on the field. I'm not sure BT is the worst, but in a photo finish he would be in a field of about half a dozen contenders.

Agreed. BT and McGuire are my favourite commentators because they have passion and can have a laugh.
