In the "Questions and Predictions" thread most people have listed the Los Angeles Lakers as the team the dislike the most. I was wondering why??

The Lakers have a long and proud tradition in the league and along with the Celtics (which no one has named) is one the most recognisable sporting teams in American sport. Also, some of the greatest players in Basketball History have worn the Purple and Gold, including, Magic, Wilt, Worthy, West, Baylor and Kareem. All loved by the masses.

i guess people get sick of one team continually winning and the lakers have had plenty of that.I personally hate shaq,it started with his continually disrepect of David robinson, then i hated kobe because of his suck-ass good guy image and how everything was handed to him on a silver platter. My real hatred manifested when they got all those calls against the kings a year ago.

My real gribe is with the NBA in general and how the big cities seem to get all the calls at crunch time.L.A are the biggest example of this.

None of these are really good reasons but you have to hate 1 team:D

...because they are an arrogant bunch of mother****ers who have had blatant help from referees during the past 4 years and more - see the Wally World "obstruction goalkeeper" call in this years' first series, amongst others.

You can hardly say that people aren't fans of Magic, Wilt, Jerry West et al. They are much loved amongst the basketball community, and have always been. The current line-up is a pack of ****ers though.

They make things boring. Seeing the same team win all the time makes things a bit tedious. Mind you, I never complained about the Bulls dynasty, but for me watching Jordan in his prime was a much more satisfying experience than watching Shaq (Shaq IMO was the lynch pin of the team, as obviously was Jordan).

Anyway, it is Tall Poppy syndrome in my opinion and more power to it in this particular case. BTW, what does the last column in your signature stand for DEVO? ie, P1/18.

Was a Lakers fan during the Magic era. Still take an interest, but I`m not a big Shaq and Kobe fan. In the Magic era the ball was shared around and it was exciting and pure basketball. Not as big a fan of the one on one play of today.

In the AFL, I couldn`t imagine supporting anyone but the Roos. However in the NBA I enjoy watching a lot of teams with the Timberwolves at the top of the tree.

I dont hate them, I just find them a boring team to watch.

Apart from Kobe theres nothing their to get excited about.

We'll see what happens this yr with GP and the Mailman.

I dislike the wizards, jazz and spurs way more than the Lakers.

I dunno, Carmelo. If you love basketball, it's hard to hate on the Spurs. Tim Duncan is a shining light amongst the dwindling basketball talent of this era.

Exactly how I feel. With the NBA, and to an extent EPL, all I want to see is good basketball/futbol played.

Hes easily got the best fundamentals in the NBA, but seriously that team is a bore.

You can put any 4 scrubs in the NBA alongside TD and its a guarenteed playoff team at worst, hes that good, but i'd rather watch KG, T-Mac, Kobe etc strut their stuff.

Duncan IMO is easily the best player in the league.

Its like what Varejeo of Brazil said, hes so predictible..yet impossible to stop.

I cant get excited watching that team.

I'm sooner bored by pretty much every player in the NBA jacking up shots which are clearly not there. There is nothing more beautiful than a graceful shooter, but at the other end of the spectrum, the amount of clunking on NBA rings these days is nigh on unbearable.

I'll admit, compared the glory years of the eighties, the Lakers are boring. For me the Lakers have always been about finesse, style and "Showtime", and the power game that they currently play is not what I want to see from the Lakers, but it is bringing them Championships, and as a Laker Fan I want to see us in our rightful place at the top of the tree. Maybe this season we might see a bit more finesse.

As the the last column on my signature, the 1 stands for position on the ladder, and the 18 is for the number of teams in the league.

I simply dislike the arrogance of the Lakers. Particularly during playoff time. Confidence is one thing, but the Lakers are something else. Also, they are the lovechild of the NBA due to marketability.

The Spurs have had some playoff tussles of past years which formed a sort of rivalry. The Spurs series win over the Lakers this season was unbelievable. I loved it. As 'jerry springer' has pointed out, the disrespect/trash talk to D-Rob annoyed me.

I like the Lakers as much as I like the Jazz. Not at all.

Because this season the Lakers have basically brought themselfs the NBA Championship rings. Payton & Malone along with Kobe and Shaq. How can anyone top that?

I Hope my beloved Miami Heat topples them.

I dont hate the Lakers. They used to be my second favourite team behind the Bulls because of Magic Johnson. The Lakers of old were awesome to watch and they had such likeable players in Magic, Worthy, Kareem etc. They were the good guys of basketball. But since then the Lakers have turned into an arrogant team, mainly because of Shaq and Kobe's arrival.

Shaq is an idiot, simple as that. He is so arrogant he has a superman tatto on his arm. He openly calls himself the MDP, Most Dominant Player and in interviews Ive seen him in, he constantly talks about him being the best there ever was, is and will be. But he is a character so sometimes you dont know if he is joking or not. When other greats are told they are the best, you will watch Magic say no, Larry or MJ are the best, or MJ will talk about Dr.J, Magic and other players. They are humble. Shaq doesnt understand the word, humble.

He is constantly disrespectful to greats of the game like Robinson, Ewing, Olajuwon etc so because of that, I dont really like him. Then of course there is Kobe. It disgusts me how much he wants to be like Mike but constantly deny's it, it's ridiculous, particularly because it is so obvious.

I think both players are arrogant and wouldnt give you the time of day if you met them on the street. It gives the Lakers a bad name, after Magic and Co did all the good work to make the Lakers into the most loved franchise in American professional sports. It pains me to this day to see Phil Jackson coaching those two bumbling idiots.

So I dont really hate the Lakers, just the players who play for them.
