Players like Adam Goodes, Brent Harvey, Nick Dal Santo, Garry Ablett ect..whenever they get held off the ball the umpire blows his whistle straight away. However tonight, and several times this season might i add, Nathan Foley is held at pretty much every ball up around the ground and every centre bounce...yet it is never spotted.
Just really frustrates me...thoughts?

When Cameron Ling runs at McGuane and half bumps him/half tackles him 5 seconds after he's taken a mark and is looking for an option, it's not a 50 metre penalty and certain goal, and a goal for Geelong results right on half time, making it 26 points instead of 14?

Yes why did we choose Geelong to have one of our worst games skill-wise of the season. I understand that a lot of that is down to pressure, but some of the mistakes were just stupid.

I think you've almost answered the question - all the players mentioned play for clubs that have been long time top 8 clubs. Whether rightly or wrongly, probably subliminally, I believe the umps tend to favour teams with a winning record.

My hypothesis would be that we started out on a mission, and played fearless footy initially - but once our blokes saw the Cats get up and about, we shat our daks.

They have that aura about them, they need to forget how good Geelong are and get on with their own footy.

Probably has a lot of truth there

to actually add insult to injury Ling after bumping McGuane then ran through the mark

so the ump missed 2 50m penalties in less than 5 secs
