We are adding more teams next season. Why?

DE is a crap house, msot teams don't havea full side of posting players and lots of people are complaining the season is to long as we have the ridiculous internationals and SOO, so why extend the comp?

Fair dinkum we could play two full seasons in one year instead of getting through one then having a big break between seasons. I just don't see the logic of adding two new teams.

I think there is merit to the point being made.

It is quite easy to go to another board and PM members asking them to play for a new side. Many will say yes, but how many will become serious contributors to the board?

I think a joining rule should be made. Maybe that each new player posts at least twice every week on this board for six consecutive weeks, otherwise he is culled.

I like Frodo's rule of the culling after 6 weeks but it could have its side effects

More interest = Expansion and time for BFFCL to prosper.

A lot of teams have quite active posters and most captains are doing a great job of culling those that don't post and keep recycling the players through and with an influx of newbies coming through it's a good idea to keep adding teams.

No quite right there Kapow, look at my post on the thread below. We are carrying a lot of non contributors. We need to consolidate before expanding. We need the ratio of contributors to non contributors to go positive. And it needs to be monitored. Adding teams that will have only a couple of decent contributors will lead to flat games next year which will pee off good contributors.

Quite selective quoting there, makes your post seem more like a shot against your former side in the West Coast Warriors and incidently backed up your point but I shall rebut regardless. No matter what team you get, there will always be players who are hardcore, some just in for themselves and check up and some who are in every now and again and post the odd comment. To aspire to too much more than we're getting at the moment is always going to be quite difficult. With more teams it will spread it out a bit more and will encourage more players to join, those who are willing to post quite a heap but can't find a place on any of the other teams due to teams being full.

AFL board based teams like Fremantle and the new Bomber side also encourages new players who never even heard of the concept to join the board and that too will bring a wave of new posters who are all eager and willing to get into it.

Consolidating the current sides will, whilst make some foundations a little stronger, ultimately drive away more players who are willing and eager because captains can't fit them and aren't perfect enough to get posting rates and delist players mid-season due to lapse in posting. That will seldom happen and because of that quite a few new players have been driven away. A classic example of that is a bloke by the name of morto who posted 2 threads, 6 months apart waiting to be signed but wasn't due to captains overlooking. He finally got picked up but was too late and he'd lost interest.

New teams is the way to go

Not selective, across the board really. Mariners lokk the worst so far.

I understand your view but you have to realise that once teams are set it's hard to come in after the competition starts.

What i don't want to see is a game with 300 posts from Crocs players and 10 posts from some new contrived club.
My solution was a 6 week posting test, what's wrong with that?

I agree, a 6 week test would be a good to test the new teams's durability and willingness to get involved with the board. Could the same quota be applied as a 'get your act together' notice for struggling teams like DE, WCW and FRE who have low posting matches? I'm interested in how you'd work this theory

Could have captains remind the players who do not post to post here, and keep active, anyone that fails to do so gets cut.

Making the captains take more control over their side.

Yeah i'm not convinced there is 'more interest'. Even if weget 10 new people showing interest there will always be 10 people who's interest will wain.

I reckon we had the perfect number of teams this season.

Agree.

A big :thumbsd: for 2 'extra' teams.

Dont mind F/D's new franchise but a club like WCW/DET must go.

Here we go again.

How can we gaurantee that the new people will post, they'll ruin our comp, make them prove themselves, keep them out blah blah blah.

Frodo still hasn't learnt from his misplaced whingeing on this issue last year.

To those people who continually ignore history, cop a load of this, over the past 2 seasons ALL the new clubs post more than the average.

SAS are essentially a new outfit, good posting.

KCC the same.

Ditto WSC.

And WIM.

Last season 2 new clubs SEM, Freo & they were some of the best posters thqt seqson....well actually that's wrong but let's say that they posted a lot.

2 new teams is great, 4 more Tests, nice, just need to cut out all the SoO crap & the comp is already improved.

As CC has said...I'm all for the expansion teams as well. But that means we need at lest 30 more posting players. Replace Darkness Eternal with one of the teams and everything will be fine.

I'll give you SAS and WIM however DET went downhill as did WCW and Freo (I think?)

WSC and KCC recruited posters who were already in the game so they were always gonna be big posting sides. However even KCC struggled late in the season.

I dont see why we need more teams when there are already teams in this comp that are adding nothing. Throw out DET/WCW and I'll be happy with new teams

Also arent SEM struggling really bad?

Grayza, beavers, Blues_Man (maybe?) and woodstock (he plays for SEM, yeah?) are the only regular posters it seems.

I dont care if we have a few mergers going on. F/D's side looks ok, so merging SEM and DET/WCW or whatever would be fine.

DET & WCW are old teams, it's different issue as to whether to cull them but new teams generally raise the interest levels above the average.

Freo did it for their first season but admiteddly fell away this season, don't see how they could have predicted it though.

What about my side CC? Not good enough...... 15 players already? Not all proven posters I grant you but I've already dropped one bloke for poor posting.

Theres more to come.

PS: CrazyQ is the name, stealing players is the game :thumbsu:
