I will stand corrected if Warnock was injured, but I thought I heard that he was playing the WAFL.

Why, why, why would you drop an up and coming ruckmen and give the job to Sandilands (returning from injury) and Gilmore (not a real ruckman).

This is not to bag Gilmore, I thought he was quite good and battled away in the ruck most of the day. But in Sandilands wasn't fully fit (as he clearly wasn't) then why play him?

I would have thought there was room in the team for Sandi, Warnock and Gilmore to play a bit in the middle. Big mistake by the match committee, I thought.:thumbsd:

You can't blame the coach for how the team played yesterday, but dropping Warnock was a serious oversight. I hope Harvey has learned his lesson from this.

'Rested for his development,' hey? Surely the best way for him to develop is for him to get some game time?

Geelong had 41 hitouts to our 19. Sandilands got 15 of our 19 in the limited time he was in the ruck, which means Gilmore got 4 rucking half the game (at least). I have been much happier with Gilmore lately, he is really starting to show something, but he's NOT A RUCKMAN. Never will be.

We had problems with clearances when Sandi was winning 75% of the hitouts for us. Our problems will be that much worse if Gilmore is rucking for us.:thumbsd:

Thought ottens and Blake being more mature in body would work Robbie over.

in Hindsight( is a wonderful thing) wrong decision because the Big Bird was a liability yesterday.

Robbie needs to be played in next 5 came come what may and support him with Happy & maybe Johnno.

Longmuir is finished as a ruckman and my never play again so we need to fast track Robbie.

Big Bird needs go for his operation

OP or a groin injury wouldn't affect your marking!! Absolutely shameful dropped mark in front of me on the south west corner of the ground yesterday. It really was a critical drop, considering Geelong picked it up and kicked a goal at the other end. He is the most overrated player in our list. Warnock is a s***load better around the ground. At least he can mark.

So are you saying signing him up for $1.5M over 3 yrs 2008-2010 was amistake for someone who still can't mark the ball consistenly??

In defence of Big Bird we must remember players of his size don't come into their own until they are 27 and older.

That was embarrassing.

Chest mark and under no pressure.

I wanted to dig a big hole when that happened.:(

But even when Sandi is fit his marking and general positional play needs a hell of a lot of work.

I haven't dropped off him entirely as I believe that with the right midfield coaching and players he can still be a huge asset for us.

But he really has to lift his marking and learn a hell of a lot about where he is of most use during general play.

Maybe a bit of Stephen Michael or Polly Farmer coaching in the off season would help?

Oh...and a midfield coach who actually had an idea would help.

so your saying broadbridge and german don't know what they are doing?
Need Don pyke as out midfield coach not someone like broadbrige who believes that "wide bodied' midfielders is the be all.

Also we have Duke spalding who made his name as a forward for the demons and caaaarlton being our ruck coach!!

Lets get spider burton or paul salmon as our ruck coach

I will happily nail Broadbridge, but I reckon that German would have struggled to have much impact in his first year.

As for Spider of Fish....well I don't really care....They could use Libber for all that I care....just teach the boy where to position himself and how to catch the ball.

And, sadly where to tap !! I mean its been going on for three f'ing years. Yesterday down at the City end he was tapping it towards Geelong's goal line. And also when we were kicking for goal from 50-60 out from set shots he was standing, hands on hips, a number of times between the goals and the centre square. These are basic errors, and if he isn't listening to the coaches, drop him.

I don't have stats, but it looks to me like we win clearances almost as often when Gilmore is rucking as without him. He gives us another midfielder in the mix to get the ball out, and he does keep the opposition ruckmen honest.

Yeah well our Ruckman is tapping the ball down the opposition throats 9 times out of 10 anyway, so we might as well conceed the tap and try to shark the opposition ones.
