With Bock, McLeod, Goodwin, Burton & Edwards all gone from the 2010 squad, I beleive the crows need to hold their squad together. They can fall into a trap and over think things a bit and for example sack Hentschell, trade Knights and Griffin and look at rebuilding the squad. However I really do not think they need to make that many changes.

Changes to a squad can change a whole dynamic. As it stands thats 5 changes already with players that we cant trade out. To trade any more thats almost a quarter of a list gone. That can have massive effects on a teams dynamic. The crows only need to trade for a star player. Thats it. dont need to get in two or three players, just concentrate on one big one. After listening to Phil last night it appears that thats direction the club may take.

Granted, but lets look at what happened last year, when we didn't react.

...they sat on their hands and it came back to bite them big time. looking at our best 22 there would be some that you could say need more work on their games or need internal pressure to work harder. Want to have a environment where everyone's spot has someone trying to get a game.

Next year could be a chance to look at some mature rookies in the SANFL, VFL, WAFL, NT etc.

Need to get some ready made mids that don't need 2 PS of work to get them up to AFL standard. Plenty of 21-25 yr olds hard bodied that would jump at

Need to get another high profile star will need to trade something to get quality.

From all the mail this year a pretty deep draft so they're should be some gems around.

If there is dead wood that isn't going to take the club forward, you have to cut it. If Griff wants to go home lets trade and use the pick to land someone else or use it. If Knighta wants to go home (hope not) then lets get the best we can for him.
If Rowdy's knee doesn't hold up. Sorry mate, time to move on.
Would punt Jacky too, but think he's contracted for another year.

Crows have already said that they are going to be a "big player" in the trade week-cashed up with plenty of spots on the senior list, plenty of room on the rookie lists.

Got to think, mids and maybe a ruck, ready to go so that 2011 isn't another nightmare otherwise Craigy might see the door at the end of it.

They make take the softly softly approach again seeing the draft is going to be compromised for a while, but if the chances are there they need to take them and go full tilt.

I've seen some calls on this board that we may as well retain Hentschel as we have made enough changes already. Codswallop!!!

He is savagely injury-prone, will be 28 next year, and has played 10 games in 4 years + we have key position types coming out of our arses.

I'm not against Trent getting a farewell match, but that's where the book should end.

What is thsi great dynamic that you do not want to change? Culling a quarter of our list is what we need to do, get rid of the deadwood as quick as we can.

Not sure if you noticed but the dynamic in 2010 has been a disgrace and is in deperate need of a change, we started the season losing our first 6 games and will finish it losing 5 out of 6. Change is good!

What I am talking about with team dynamic is trust in each other, knowing how each other plays and as well as mateship. The crows since 2007 have turned over nearly 80% of their squad (that includes the players leaving already this year).

With the turn over already taken place I think we will struggle next year yet alone if we turn over even more players. Star players dont grow on trees and realistically we wont get jack this year. Pav is the only realistic option unless we are able to find a disgruntled star from another club. I dont see it happening at all im afraid which means we could be getting 6 to 7 picks in the draft if we trade players for draft picks. To me this draft is a dead draft due to the suns and you really dont want that many picks in a draft like this. you may pluck a diamond but it will be a rare commodity.

All i am saying is 5 changes to the squad I beleive is enough. we do have a good squad and unless we can snare a star dont make any more changes.
