With the excellent form of setanta and jammo, and thornbird's class and versatility. Is having Waite down back as much of a necessity? We will all agree that our defence was our greatest weakness coming into the season, but apart from injuries i think it has been a major positive for us.

As i mentioned earlier setanta and jammo have settled. Austin was BOG on the weekend for the bullants and has been in the best nearly every week for the last month and a half. He will need to be rewarded at some point. We have bower eventually returning as another versatile back.

We look twice as dangerous with Waite up forward as he can demand the ball from our midfielders, unlike our resting ruckman, who do work hard, but don't take enough of the attention off Fev. Ratts mentioned the Waite move as a pivotal one in his press conference. I think he has realized the hole at CHF. Waite will solve this.

Could Austin come in for Hampson to help make this happen? Hampson is doing well, and is an amazing prospect of the future, but we seemed top heavy at points with Fev, Waite, fish and Kreuze all in the F50. I feel if bower were in the team we would have adequate cover for Waite. Waite may be the answer to our forward prayers.

Waite has been tried up forward, but lacks consistency. Has matured as a player down back and that might help him if and when he does return up forward, but I'm yet to be convinced he's the long term answer (although definitely handy up forward and can net himself a fair few goals).

Waite was good up forward i agree, but i think he should still play predominently at CHB. He has stated himself he feels more comfortable back there.

If the conditions suit it (like it did today), Waite can be thrown forward. If Bower was still playing he could hold CHB (that was his drafted position i think?), same with Aussie if he's smashing up the 2's.

We will need him next week against Lucas/Lloyd depending where they play. Maybe agaisnt Richmond.

Throw in walker to that back six and our run looks good. Waite did look pretty composed today up forward compared to last time he played there so I reckon Waity up forward when it suits is the go!

surprising..... Five again...

mate seriously if theres two of the same topics who cares?

why do you feel the need to be a smart ass at all costs.... you sound like a Collingwood supporter more then anything

thanks for that mate. i'm still new around here and still learning thread etiquette.. Its my first thread actually.

So Five u got any opinion on the post or just felt like letting a little steam off? Sounds like u might have something useful to add to the thread

A very good observation and you could be right, he may be an excellent player on the wing. I have thought if this many a time, especially 2 years ago when we over bulked him to play CHF and he ended up with stress fractures most of the year. Richo, goodes have both shown what athletic big men can do on the wing. Although jarrods agility is a worry.

However we don't need him on the wing imo. Maybe in the future after we have developed a little more in other areas, but at the moment the KP is a waeakness. 2 jarrod waites would fix this, but the question is, where do we need him more, defense or attack? I think the team would benefit more with him up forward against certain opposition.

What about Walker? His another that will return and give us run outta defense.

I like the idea of Waite pushing forward on occasions i thought it early today when i saw him on Reid.

Yeah I think this Five has some real issues, just stirs sh%t for no reason. We are all on the same team here.

FWIW I think Waite up front is an absolute must. He holds so much value up there and I think we can now cover him down back. I know there was talk about settling in one position but looks like a combo between CHF & CHB depending is needed.

Off the topic I cannot wait for Gibbs to be released in the midfield and maybe Walkers return soon will help that cause :)

People have come to know that I do not like player baggers and if you have a problem with that look at your idiotic Bentick thread and see how many other people agree with me. You are hurt and embarassed - don't make a fool of yourself into the bargain :D

Sorry this was your first thread but it was pretty hard to miss the Waite thread a few below it - that is where I added my bit. Made the same mistake myself and happy to have it pointed out - why would you think I am letting of steam, we just gave it to the pies. I will give you a tip : people will point out your mistakes. Imagine if we had 2 of everything - 2 Juddys, 2 Fevs, 2 Murphs - you've won me. :)

Hey that five has real issues for sure LOL
bbb you the guy from London - who I took for someone too lazy to do his own research and was just bringing up the Kennedy debate again. I have got to start a list of the babies that can't move on. Before you leap at the chance for a little dig - read the Bentick and umpires thread baconb started, so that you know what sort of Carlton Player Bagger you are siding with

Five to lazy to do my own research? Isn't that what forums are for - discussion? I wanted a carlton supporters perspective and you read into the thread the wrong way - get over it!

As for taking sides, I am just pointing out that you have allot of people who dislike your tone on here. Maybe you shouldn't react so quickly and harshly to people on here. Be nice! :D

Now now boys, lets settle. Good to see people stick up for each other. Five thanks for the pointer, im sure it will aid me in future threads. Lets remember that just pulled down collingwood's pants yesterday. We have a lot of ammunition against them so lets use it.

Back to the topic, which not many people have shed light on,where do we need waite the most? we had this problem with whitnall a couple of years ago, he never really settled up forward after a cracking year at CHB. So do we leave waite settled down back, or could he be the ideal sidekick for fev? I feel opposition would be terrified of the notion of a waite and fev combo, simular to the Brown, bradshaw combo and also the Franklin, Roughhead combo.

Oh God help me be good (not nice - such an insipid word) but if I stray it will be only if people like Audas bag Carlton players - in future, if I have a lot of people disliking my tone then please forgive them for abusing Carlton. Amen ;)

I agree 100%. Have a look at how much damage Richo is doing this year as a big tall athlete who can outmark pretty much any wingman an oppo coach could put on him. Waite was pretty much running through the middle when he kicked that great goal against port and when he did some of his good work against the magpies.

I've been pushing to have Waite down back but honestly if we can afford to I'm all for pushing him forward... If Bower, Thornton, Jamison, O'hAlpin and maby Austin are all avaliable we can afford to do this...

Five shakes things up a bit but he's genuine Carlton and this place has been definitely more interesting since he began his marauding campaign to rule the world from his picturesque home-base in ClipArt Land.
