Why was Benet Copping retained?

You are not Robinson Crusoe there.

But We all probably thought the same about Crowley.

And to be fair Copping did show a bit for EP in the latter half of 2006.

True about Crowley, now he is one of our important midfielders, thought the same about some rookie lists over the years, but have been proved wrong. Though I must admit he doesnt seem to have shown much at all. Dunn is in the same boat though

Seeing him at training he seems scrappy in drills, in match practise he is easily beaten. He does not look confident, too skinny and the coach gives it to him. I don't see why he is on the list. He isn't responding to the challenge.

You're all a bunch of knockers. He did alright last night - there was worse out there IMO. But I guess you see it how you want to see it.
Very negative post, but if that's what floats your boat then let me know and I'll start some about others for you to comment on - Plenty of other players to be negative about after last nights performance.

If you would like everything to be sunshine and light then head to Dockerland. I'm sure Shane will love you for it.

I don't have an opinion on him, although he was un-noticeable yesterday. But, the same sort of comment was used about Ibottson who was reasonable yesterday, and to an extent Dunn as well. Of course Crowley is the ultimit example of someone who "shouldn't" have been on a list, but managed to turn something around.

Did my man Dunny play out the whole game?
Did He get much of it?

He was okay, but decision making seems to be a real issue Ripper. Gets the ball at half back and takes an eternity to get rid of it, which isn't so bad if you have the pace of Brett Peake but Dunny's not the quickest bloke running around. Would be much better off booting the ball 50+ metres to a one on one on the wing when he gets it.

Any idea why he couldn't crack it at Carlton? For all the hype from his supporters, his stint there confirmed that his non-selection was the correct decision. An ordinary player with a lot of heart, but not the skill level for AFL standard IMO.

Discussion is fine - bagging our own players who have yet to have a chance to prove themselves is ********e. The guy is early in his development FFS, and I would bet my left nut that most of the critics wouldn't have seen him play more than two games but they still feel they're experts on his standing as a player!

He had a bad run with injuries while at the blues, so didn't really get a chance to impress.

Debate about a players ability and worth are fine IMO. When people heckle or abuse our players that's when I have a problem, the treatment of Schammer last year was disgraceful.

Copping has just completed his third pre-season at afl level, and needs to prove something this year. Campbell has been a bit of a slow developer, but has atleast played some very good wafl games and looks ready to go if required in 2007. Copping should be at the same level this year but I doubt he will be.

Agree, so why is there a negative post before even a pre season game has been played this year. He does need to prove something this year - so let him do it without his so called supporters bagging him. He does play a negating role so is not noticed as much as a high flying forward or a midfielder, and I haven't seen anyone saying that Drummy was super impressive last night - well who played on him people? That's right Copping!

Campbell is in his forth pre season, and I believe he will need to step up this year as well! His WAFL form has been very scratchy so far IMO.

Agree Sham. If he needs to impress, which is the opportunity the selectors have given him, then let him take it.

Campbell is also a really interesting question. He is developing nicely, but needs to get a game. How is he going to do that, except from injury? Also, if he can't get a game with us .... well, he looks too good just to stay on a list.

Last night he looked more dangerous than Murphy, who seems the obvious competition for a spot in the 22 for him. But I never get the sense that he is considered in the same bracket as Murphy. Murphy definitely looks more natural as a footballer.

My other thought re Campbell, is that he looks physically more than capable of pinch hitting in the ruck if we do have an injury, and assuming that Warnock will be given another year to grow.

Looks like discussion to me.

I wouldn't know Copping if he bit me on the leg, but the others have watched him at training and play.
He's been on the list for 2-3 years (?), and doesn't seem to have improved by the reports here.
No bashing just opinions.

lol@Dockerland. Bigger lol@Shane. Sometimes I wonder how he sleeps at night. Has a lot of enemies.

Next to useless tonight IMO. The WAFL guys >>>>>> Copping.

Copping will be used as the face of Fremantle just like David Beckham is being or was being used as the face of Real Madrid. Imagine all the girls getting a Freo Jumper with Copping on the back !!!!!

Talking as an East Perth supporter Copping has shown very little improvement in his play, his foot skills are poor and just doesn't create play.
Apparently had a huge reputation in juniors in South Australia which got him to Freo, I predict as he is now rookie listed and isn't compelled to be in the first team he won't play that much for EP unless he has shown dramatic improvement in his play and body physique over pre-season.
