What happened this year when we dropped Bowden and Pettifer?

Beat Freo in the west. Not something anyone expected.

HOW ABOUT THE WEEK AFTER?

So, 3 players can't make that much of an impact? :o

In a team supposedly developing, with lots of young kids and few senior players, those 3 players make all the difference.

Especially those 3.

They affect the team culture.

The Crows aint stars. They worked their ar ses off to get back into the game.

Watched the replay today and one of the Foxtel commentators said the Crows have too many proud players that wouldnt throw in the towel.

Our 3 leaders Pettifer, Bowden and tivendale dont have a shred of pride in their body. They go missing. And that affects the whole team.

I'd say 8-3 is better than ordinary. And before you say that they have had an easy draw and have stumbled over the line, remember that a tough draw and a few close losses haven't been allowed as an excuse for us.
Ordinary yesterday had more to do with their form the previous 2 weeks i.e. 50 point loss to WC and a 5 point win over the Bombers at home as well as them missing Burton and Griffen.

When they were breaking lines and setting up goals during the 5 week period where the side was playing good footy I don't recall you having a problem with them.

Part of the problem you have is not being able to watch them live at the ground due to living in SA, but when you saw McMahon, King and co run into trouble or turn it over yesterday, more often than not it had to do with the fact that players up the ground were not moving to give them an option. One of the main culprits of this is Pettifer who time and again stood back in the 50 waving his arms around wanting the ball kicked 45-55m. Instead of getting on his bike and pushing up the ground. It was part of the reason he got dropped in the first place and part of the reason he should get the arse again this time.

Agree, but how is this convincing me of Bowden not being good enough to be there?

BTW, People are bagging Deledio on another thread for not kicking enough, same thing applies.

If they played the way they played in the second half on Saturday in the previous two weeks, they would've had much better results.

Funnily enough I bagged him for the same thing and didn't give him votes yesterday because of it.

Regarding why Bowden isn't there and McMahon, King and co are, the reason is simple Wallace wants players who will take the game on and move the ball with pace by breaking the lines and then delivering quickly into the F50 where we can utilise Richo, Brown and co better. When Bowden was/is down back more often than not a quick break is slowed when he gets the ball across the HB line, as he looks for an option where he can hit a pass without turning the ball over. Problem with that is usually the option he ends up with is one either 15-30m to the side or behind, who then has to kick the ball back to Bowden because everyone else has been picked up. When McMahon or King get the ball across HB their first instinct is to head up the ground and take the game on. The problem then reverts back to what I said above and that is players like Pettifer/Bowden/Polak not moving to create an option.

When we had Riewoldt and Morton in the side these things weren't happening as either one of them or both would push up to give them an option. Since they have been dropped (last week Riewoldt was sent down back because we were getting smacked) we haven't had that lead up option to turn to and McMahon and King have had to try and kick the ball 50m plus while running at full tilt with a couple of opposition players up their clackers.

My favourite call is, "Let's offer Pettifer or Bowden as trade bait." If those suggesting that don't rate Pettifer or Bowden, what makes them think other clubs would give up anything for them?

im glad i went to the footy on the weekend

.....thats what it was wasnt it??
