i like wiggo. is he actually 25 yet??
I am a great fan of Wiggins. He has everything he needs to make a really good 150 game player;
I don't think we have seen the best of Wiggins yet, and I imagine he will be more than just a depth or top up player in 2007 and beyond.
- Good height (roughly 6' 2" I think)
- His speed is good enough without being exceptional
- Great courage and determination . Competes hard in every single contest
- Kicking has improved considerably
- Can play tall with his marking ability
- From all accounts works hard at training and takes his football seriously
lets not be too hard on wiggo. start worrying when david teague comes into the team at the expense of a kid like grigg.Once again - Wiggo comes in at the expense of a kid like Grigg (who impressed in the Bullants prac match).
didn't stop him from landing a nice a missus.i love the way wiggo plays, hard at it and with a lot of heart. (maybe thats why he looks ugly, hits in the head do that to your face, then i'm no fabio myself so, um yeah.) i hope they play him, he can go back or forward or he can play on a wing just to add to his credentials. strong mark and one of the thousands in our leadership group.![]()
Go Wiggo
didn't stop him from landing a nice a missus.
Even though he played some of his best footy L/Y I'm still not 100% on Wiggo. He should be starting to really hit his straps, at 25, strong body after numerous pre season's and a reasonable size.
He also offers a bit of difference in how he plays the game. His "awkwardness" is an advantage in that he is a bit faster than he seems and can mark 'tall'. He's also hard at it.
He will definately get opportunity in the early part of the season and he will have to hit the ground running to remain in the 22 and this is probably?? his last season to make a real impact.
The fact he is in the leadership group would indicate his standing within the club so lets hope he can make 2007 his.
Should get lots of game time this year, was impressive last year and improved quite a bit. Interesting to see if he can continue his form into 2007 - was he injured on the weekend or just not selected?
Injured Hammy, but hopefully he is right for this weekend.
I think you are dead wrongI have nothing against Wiggins personally, he seems like an honest tryer and a Carlton man through and through........
BUT
I seriously do not think he is good enough to be on our list. He has been at the club since 2001, long enough in my opinion to have made his mark. Mid-sized players like him are dime a dozen.
I agree that he had a very good second half to 2006, but i think the club made a big error giving him a 2 year contract for 2007/08. They should have only offered a 1 yr deal and put the onus on him to replicate his 2006 form. He would have had no choice but to accept it, as i highly doubt any other AFL side would have picked him up.
