Sounds like Rhode has one guy in the gun for next week.

From the 'Dogs web site

Potential key position player Patrick Wiggins was named as a player facing demotion next week when the side meets Essendon. He had little ground time against Melbourne but finished with no statistics.

“He’s certainly one of the ones we’ve got to make a decision with in the sort term – whether he needs to go back and find a bit more form again.”

Does anybody seriously think he's capable of kicking a decent amount of goals????

Who knows what he could do if he is left on the ground for more than 5mins.

I think he'll be left on the field for more than a few minutes if he actually touches the ball. He ain't up too it

He might actually get some touches if our midfield start getting it out of the middle, and deliever it properly.

Browny doesn't seem to be having too many problems getting the ball. Wiggo's a big boy he shouldn't need it on a plate to take a mark. He never looks like doing anything.

I hope Im wrong about him, but from what I hear he doesn't do a hell of a lot for Weribee. And he had plenty of chances in the Wizard Cup and did very little

All im saying is, if the midfiels start getting the ball and delivering it properly he might actually show what talent he does have.

You guys are a joke

You're hanging it on a guy that doesn't get game time? How can he get the ****ing pill when he's not on the field?

He's not out there to score 10 goals a damn game, he's there to provide a tall option up forward which he does.

There was one incident yesterday in the 2 seconds he was on the ground where for the first and only time all game, Wiggins lead left, Brown right and low and ****ing behold, Brown was actually one out on a lead instead of in a two on one contest.

It's not that ****ing hard to see the benefits of Wiggins being on the field, and if you can't see that, pull your heads out out of your arse and learn to watch football.

At least one poster here hasn't given him a caining.

I dont understand why rhodes would contemplate dropping wiggins when we seemed to play an open forwardline with just brown as the target for a lot of the game. We seemed to direct to brown at every opportunity.

maybe wiggins wasnt leading well?

I agree.

Although I am becoming disillusioned with Wiggins and his efforts I think he should be given another chance and some decent game time.

for a team that lacks height the only players we talk about dropping are talls like Wiggins, or actually drop like Harris or don't include like Skipper.

Not really helping ourselves

I think wiggo has to go back to weribee this week and hopefully kick a few goals.I agree thouggh he has to be let on the ground more than 5 mins if he is to hve any impact on the game.Ithinkthis week someone will have to go to hopefully finally give skip a game but he wont be the only one i think there will be a few joining him at weribee this week.

If a bloke like Fevola can kick some gols, take some marks and provide soem presence- surely Wiggins can!

Yes, he hasn't been very impressive but he hasn't exaclty been given the opportunities, not by the coach, not by his team mates. We saw preseason and a few glimpses this home and away season that he can take a grab, kick a goal and provide a target, bump and work hard to get to the footy. Just leave him at FF to provide a contest, with enough ball coming his way confidence will go up and so will his output. Give the bloke a job and let him try and fulfil it - he can't do much worse than some of the other blokes who played on Sunday! (Bandy.......)

He needs to be given more time on the ground and have the thing kicked to him. Hopefully at least he would provide a contest for Browny and Co to rove to, rather than kicking it to Browny all the time even when he is one on two opponents.

In all honesty Wiggins hasn't got much on Fevola. Since hes been at the club Wiggo hasn't showed much for Weribee, it shouldn't be a surprise hes struggling in the ones. And he can do a hell of a lot worste than Bandy

U must have seen something pre-season I didn't, because I saw him kick a couple of goals, mainly from free kicks and get bugger all touches. Im not saying we give up on him altogether, but I don't think he should be in the ones this week, even if we just drop him for a while to give him some game time and maybe some confidence

I think you have to drop him this week, just to ensure he gets some game time. hopefully he gopes back, kicks a few and forces Rohde into bringing him back up and actually playing him.

If he goes back and does bugga all, so be it. Find someone else with a bit of size to whack in the goal square.

First get the structure right, then find the best players to fill the roles. Not going to get anywhere by just trying to be as competitive as possible right now and not worrying about developing a couple of decent tall forwards. If only we could afford a coach that knew he had the safety of being able to develop the side without the risk of losing his job in 12 months because of bad results.

Fair enough, sitting on the bench isn't doing him any good so play him in the twos if things aren't going to change in regards to game time. I just feel that he is our best option for that position and even he if does struggle, the presence of a big body will be beneficial to the general structure of the team and take a bit of aerial pressure off of Brown.

I still think he should be given a decent run and be given a role to play - at least that way we can judge him on whether or not he played his part, not what he could've done / didn't get the chance to do.

By all accounts he has been really trying, so maybe dropping him now would destroy his confidence? Fevola has been showing something, but then again Pagan has actually placed him on the ground and has his team kicking long into the forward line.

forwards hate it when the defence and midfield muck around short passing and playing indirect. Are we bringing the ball up quick enough? Is it better kicking long to a 3:2 contest (in our favour) than short passing to a guy who is 20m on his own?

It only takes 2 long kicks to bring the ball from FB to within easy scoring range...

For pete's sake give the bloke a ****ing fair go before you start writing him off! How do expect him to get some touches when he plays 5 mins a game and when he is actually on the ground he never gets a touch because we are too Brown orientated!! If Rhode ****ing leaves him in the goal square for a whole game, im sure he will get some touches and maybe even kick a few goals and then in turn boost his confidence!! Even if we do drop him, i cannot seriously see Skipper performing any better than Wiggins!!!!

Wiggo

I agree it is a bit harsh to drop Wiggo when he was barely on the ground, a minute here and a minute there is not enough. He did take a great mark but it was disallowed, who knows why?
Someone had sure said to kick to Brown at all costs. Players who would normally have a shot and more than likely kick a goal were passing to Brown when he had a heap of opponents or was in a worse position than the player passing the ball, this led to so many turnovers, it was a crying shame, after all the good work of the back line players to get the ball going forward.
Also whose idea was it to play Crofty at full forward when Neitz was killing the backline, Bassett was totally outclassed.
