My personal list for 2008:
Mario Kart
IGN
Speaks for itself really. Will have online play.
Boom Blox
IGN
Made in collaboration with Spielberg. I recommend that you check out the videos, the physics looks spot-on and the gameplay looks fun, addictive and endless, supplying hours of replay value. Wi-Fi enables you to create and send or download other player maps.
Disaster: Day of Crisis
IGN
Looks pretty promising. Is an action/survival game and looks reasonably unique and interesting. Has been delayed for a long time which could be a blessing in disguise - a better game. Also a Wii exclusive.
Red Steel 2
IGN
Not totally confirmed. The first game had the right idea, yet it didn't translate so well. It can only improve.
Pro Evolution 2008
IGN
Should be a cracker of a game. Player control was always limited on previous gen consoles, as well as the PS3 and X-BOX 360, but now with the I.R sensing, there are so many possibilities. Also contains online.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
IGN
Star Wars. Not usually my cup of tea, but with the Wii remote it seems oh so irresistible. If using the 'Force' to throw players around using rag-doll physics interests you, imagine using the remote as a light-saber.
Brothers In Arms: Double Time
IGN
Lets face it, there isn't any good 'real' shooters out there. CoD 3 was pretty lousy and Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 was/is a failure due to the removal of online play and a short campaign mode. Brothers In Arms: Double Time combines the last 2 Brothers In Arms games together, resulting in over 30 missions, and likely to have multi-player split screen. Out in less than 5 weeks.
Top Spin Tennis
IGN
I believe, that along side with bowling, that tennis was the best experience on Wii Sports. Could you imagine playing with real players, up to 4 players, actually having control of where you move your player and the game registering spin, slice and power with the remote? I sure can, and I can't wait.
Heres some speculative titles, although very likely coming to the Wii.
Call of Duty 5
IGN
Call of Duty 4 was massive. I really couldn't expect too much less from CoD 5. Hopefully there will be online play, and seems reasonably likely.
James Bond 007
IGN
Everyone remembers how good James Bond was on the Nintendo 64. It is being tackled by Treyarch, the developers of the Call of Duty series.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6: Vegas 2
Unlikely, but it hasn't been dismissed by the developers or producers.
It looks as though it isn't going to be such a bad year after all. Expect to have a few gems rolling in by mid-year.
Thanks for reading my preview and feel free to post upcoming games your'e interested in.
