Sure he could get the ball and run and kick but he wasn't really a rebounder. He didn't link up much and he wasn't a line breaker. His job was to lock down. I'm not the one confused on this.

You’ve basically admitted your the confused one. He could very much run, provide the linkup option, break lines, and kick the footy. The very definition of a rebound. That he was tasked with locking down on a key opposition forward which limited his opportunities to do it doesn’t mean he couldn’t do it. No different to IQ, Bruzzy, Crisp (when playing defence), or even Moore. They can also do it, they’re just restricted by role as to how often they get to do it.

Anyone can do it. That wasn't my point. My point was that Toovey generally didn't do it because it wasn't his role, which was a lock down defender on the most dangerous small. Sure if he won a one v one he might run 10 metres forward and dish it off, but he wouldn't continue to run on to link up and break lines like Noble does.

Nothing like Noble really. Not nearly as fast or evasive, but a more accurate kick.

And we can be thankful of that. Noble the very definition of a fringe player. His good is often very good, but the gulf between his good and his bad continues to make him vulnerable to being usurped. Time will tell if Parker is someone who can do that.

parker looked better in a game with no pressure...but he is definitely being fast-tracked for some reason that isnt obvious to me at the moment although he seems to be able to kick better than most. It could be in his sign-on contract to get these games but to say that would be hard on him. He looks like a nice half-back...

IMO he’s being given opportunities to see if he can play IQ’s role allowing the later to move into the midfield.
Looking good so far, and IQ as a mid could an outstanding move.

i'd probably be more confident that he could become a solid half back, then quaynor becoming a midfielder. However, we need more players to take over from the oldies in the transition to 2026 and he should fit the bill.... but as i said, it wasnt a game to judge a player by.

He was touted as a top 10-20 pick in his draft year before he chose cricket and he's a really intelligent footballer. Give him an actual preseason with the club and it'll become very apparent to why he's playing, could easily become a best 23 player next year and can help free up Noble and Quaynor to go to the wings

i understand his history. And yes, he might have vision etc and those sort of qualities that are hard to judge now. As I said, he must have something or they wouldnt have fast-tracked him.

If Condon comes to the pies and is able to play as well and as early as Parker has this year we’ll all be salivating.

And it will go a long way towards making up for our recent mistakes throwing away early draft picks needlessly.
