Yes it was. Did some nice things and made an impact. Looks slight but was laying some strong tackles.

He’s going to be a smart player for us in the future imo. Couple really good tackles and spoil a ball that led to a goal.

Nice pressure and good movement up and down the ground. Seemed very dilligent with his role. If he gets more chances in the future can hopefully gain the confidence to make more calls on the fly to get involved

Hayes has not really looked ready for AFL from what I have seen in the VFL. He is so slight and a bit slow as well.

I think in this case, it's because there was no like-for-like player coming out (like Membrey or Checkers) for West to come in. For Hayes there was though, with Shooter missing again.

His form has been fine and relatively consistent. Was easily the best small-medium forward at VFL level so the obvious choice if we wanted a small-medium forward. Not sure why you need to keep going on about West rather than just enjoy Hayes debut.

Pretty simple. Who is the most similar to Bobby Hill, West or Hayes? If Mihocek or Membrey had to withdraw then West would probably have played.
