VFL watchers will tell you he didn't, he was quiet in the lead up and said himself he was surprised to be picked. Promising but not ready and that's where he's at.
The most important "ready" for his role is defensive positioning and workrate within the grid. I wouldn't trust "VFL watchers" to be on top of that or to know whether anyone else would have done that better.

That's true but for those on here who were calling on his inclusion and to just play him you've now seen he's not ready and that's why he didn't play well so back to the VFL he goes. Big potential but that body is miles off so into the gym young fella, we don't want another Ben Sinclair on our hands and probably the same people were clamouring for his inclusion.
Once again I beg to differ, maybe you should watch the replay.
Granted he was better in the second half once he found his feet but he certainly didn't play badly.

6 tackles, 7 disposals, 3 marks, 2 free kicks, disposal efficiency 71.4%
I think that's a pretty good debut and shows he is ready, he can only get better.
I don't think stats count pressure but he did that too.
Re the week before in the VFL, I agree he didn't stand out but he certainly did in previous matches.

Slightly overwhelmed in the first half but had a very good second half. I think he actually had 7 tackles which is fantastic for a guy his size. That game will only enhance his confidence and ability

All you've established is how low your bar is, 7 possessions from a full game is not good enough, he struggled so it's back to the VFL, that's just the truth of it.

I thought his VFL form was really good. So much so that I bumped his thread from page 3 a few weeks back to say just that. Had a quieter game against GWS but I thought that was more to do with a corky (leg heavily strapped) than anything else. Definitely at the front of the queue for a small-medium forward spot if 1 arose. It did, he played, didn’t look out of place as he adjusted to the tempo.

Oh dear 🙄

He had a few good tackles, other than that he contributed almost nothing.

Still lots to work with, but he's at least 18 months away

The truth of it could well be a return to the AFL team to face the Dees.

All i read in this was just play him

And I agree 👍

Seven possessions on the night suggests he's not ready to contribute as does the extremely light frame. Given a taste against a bottom team but a long way to go and back to the VFL for the young fella to develop into a player who can play well enough to hold a spot but it's not this year.
Wrong. Our coaching staff obviously don’t agree with you and see him as a viable option ready to play when needed
