Didn't Hawthorn comfortably defeat Adelaide in a semi final missing Day, Dear and Morrison?

And Collingwood? Smashed them without Day and Weddle playing.

They're not miles ahead of those teams, if that's what you're driving at. They also lost to them.

The problem the Hawks face is they are obviously a good team and certianly finals should be the minimum. They can breeze past the bottom 9 (in general). But, they lost to Adelaide, Geelong, Brisbane, Collingwood, Fremantle and Gold Coast. That's every team in the 8 except GWS.

They'll need to improve to play in a GF.

Not so sure. The Pies have recruited 3 midfielders that look more inside than outside (Prindable Swadling and Anderson) That along with Demattia, to me looks like his main position looks filled already by AFL listed players.
