The footy singlet could be in line for a banning in favour of soccer-style jerseys.

The soccer types will claim this as a victory over footy, but I wont.

Andrew Demetriou better get on the case with this stupid rumour.

Singlets are our jumpers and that the way it's been since football started.

I hate it when a player wears the long sleeve guernsey.

Imagine a time when all players were to ear incredulous soccer shirts.

This could be happening if Walls is to be believed.

The OP comes from Sydney an supports Adelaide... Me smells a league troll who selected Adelaide because they are the first team listed.

Please cut me some slack. I grew up at Norwood Oval.

My father and his brother always called them singlet style guernseys.

The moron who came in with the Stynes troll had barely posted and was a member since 08.

It doesn't take a genius to realise why our guernseys are sleeveless; same with basketball. If a sport involves your arms being raised above your head a lot - marking - then it would be stupid to have even short sleeves, as they impede on your arm's movement.

/thread.

why not just have the players wear full body spandex suits covered in sponsorships?

The mighty Norwood Redlegs wore full body lycra uniforms for several seasons in the 1990s, but were laughed off the field. From memory they also had problems with them ripping. Never again....I hope...

I wish we still had the old wool jumpers!

I also grew up around Norwood Oval (the home of the greatest ever footy club! No bias here...), but I never remember the term singlet style guernsey. It was always the footy jumper to us.

UP THE LEGS'!!

82 and 84 were "special" years. I was too young to remember 78 but I have seen replays of the game and the 4th quarter comeback sums the footy club up to a tee.

Some of my most cherished memories. :thumbsu:
