Williamstown started reasonably well booting the first three goals of the game - Rusling with two. They didn't play out of their skins for most of the day until the momentum swung Port Melbourne's avenue -- remarkably -- Port Melboure hit the lead after trailing from the outset, but Williamstown's skilled-bodies went haywire booting the last five goals of the match to win by 26 points.

Rusling: kicked four goals. got quality service from the midfielders, who used the ball with more efficiency.

Shaw: best on ground. 21 pos and a goal. skills were superior.

Cloke: kicked a gem on the half time siren from outside forward 50. provided a good target.

Nicholls: won the hard ball. skills were good.

Anthony: intriguing battle with smith - won some and lost some. tried hard.

Davies: he keeps on finding the ball. a bit down on form as opposed to previous weeks.

O'Brien: provided fantastic drive out of the backline.

Fanning: good game in the ruck. did fractionally well around the ground.

Iacobucci: good tough game. didn't shrink the issue.

Cox: did his job in the backline. tough from behind.

Rowe: got into the game late with a nice goal. gave the opposition easy ball from mistakes by foot early.

Morrison: the experienced duo of tallis and morrison bidded well. went off injured in the last quarter.

You'd think Rusling and Shaw would be in next week. For Rocca/Tarrant and Lockyer perhaps

If Williams was still playing for Collingwood, would we be playing him?

Good to see Morrison play a half decent game, apart from giving away a 50 when he decided he'd have a shot at goal but you can't blame him he doesn't kick that many.

Well, his two brothers played last nite,so that leaves Cam.
Unless there is a 4th Cloke, now thats SCARY

Twice I saw Morrison with a wide open target, which he proceeded to kick over their head by about 5 metres.

Delist this ****ing ******* now.

Good summary CT.

This was the first Willi game I have watched this year and there were some good signs.

Of the veterans, Rhyce stood out. His skills were excellent and his pace broke open the game at times. I'd bring him in. Fanning was good and Cloke was OK.

Rusling was pretty good. He provided a good target and worked hard in the forward line. I think he can be a good player within the next 2-3 years.

I like the look of Anthony. He's got size and has good skills. He had a good duel with his opponent and I think after he's been in the system for a couple of years, and they teach him defensive positioning, then he will be a mainstay in our backline.

Fanning likely to get a call up for a Jason Cloke you would think? Or a Cameron, but Fanny looked pretty good.

Rhyce was fantastic, definately getting a run in the seniors next week. Rusling was a good target and came away with a good return and worth an inclusion if the club has the balls to drop Pebbles/Taz. Anthony and O'Brien definately pushing for selection!

Good summary as always CT :thumbsu:

Oh yeah...Chad Morrison, I actually gave him a verbal spray in my living room, something along the lines "for f**k sake Chad, you are a useless piece of crap..." He was dreadful. Did a nice over-the-top pass in the second term, but he waited 5 seconds to do it, and was hoping he got tackled to be honest.

Does anyone know why my boy Alan Toovey got dropped for this weeks game? He was best on last week and then I didn't see him on the ABC and read the paper this morning and saw he was one of the best for Willy 2's!
What is going on - he will be the next Jimmy Clement.

Against stand alone teams, which Port are, only 12 AFL listed players are permitted in the opposing team

I saw the game on Tv and saw a fair bit of talent in John Anthony. He laid a ripping aggresive shephard at one stage of the game and he showed Clement like composure down back. I think we have underplayed his potential abit.
Physically he seems to have the kind of physique that will take a bit of weight on it unlike the smaller skinnier statured players, and once developed could be a long term gain to an ageing backlineIe Wakes/Clem/Prest!

Looks like the younger Walkers/Jclo's/Halls of this world have run their race so along with Maxy/Obrein, Anthony could, if lucky enough consolidate a spot in the next year or two.

The other kid who Iam equally impressed by is rookie listed Danny Nicholls. I realise he did not have a pearler out there yesterday but for an'undersized' player he looks very much Mathew Bode like. Raking left footer with pace and an aggressive approach. He should be elevated.

Good luck to the kid.

It will be the 12-10 rule. Willy played a non aligned club (Port) and is only allowed to play 12 Collingwood players against them. Toovey being a rookie is first in line to get axed.
