With Peter Matera and Milli that's four all up.

It was fun while it lasted Willo. Getting a start at 29 he would probably be satisfied with the ride. Hope he keeps pulling on the Blue and Black next year...

Wilson was probably the zaniest of Ken's zany 2000 draft / trade choices, but gee whiz - it was a hell of a ride while it lasted, wasn't it.

We'll always have the memories ...

- Taking a screamer and being near-BOG against NM to get us into the finals

- Nearly killing several of St Kilda's best and brightest at Subi

- Nearly killing several of NM's best and brightest at Subi

... etc.

Good luck for the future Troy.

It's the right decision.

All the best to Troy Wilson. He should be applauded for his endeavour and his courage in bucking the system and getting into AFL at such a ripe old age.

He's still well liked at West Perth too - a good bloke. Made the most of his opportunities (on and off the field:D ).

If the Hansen rumour is true, thats 5 gone off our list already. WC will either trade a lot to fill the gaps, or draft a lot of youngsters in a not so spectacular draft (not weak, just not 2001 standards).

Of course, there's always Carroll, Munro, Chambers, Lynch, Adkins and Humm who have at times looked like getting the chop.

Will be an interesting off-season.

What is the Hanson rumour?

Always knew Willo would be gone, but in hindsight it makes the offer of only a one year contract to Hansen seem strange. I can't work out what's going on.
Maybe now there will be no excuses for Lynch to get a game next season.

Caught the arse-end of an interview with Willo on Ch 10 news at it sounds as if he may put his hand up for another club. Something along the lines of going to any club who needed an AFL ready FF.

My mate is his manager and has told him if he were to be dropped he give any other club a go. If It happens or works out, best of luck but I'd like to see him in blue and black for next year.

Sad to see him go, but the writing has been on the wall for a while. Fun while it lasted.

great work Willo while you were here. I'm sure we'll all remember him for a long time.

But starting at 28, it's always gonna be a short term proposition.

But I do wish the club (they may have actually done it, and he didn't accept their offer) gave him the option of retiring from the game, rather than delisting him.

Essentially it is the same, but I think the player would rather [i}feel[/I] that he went out on his own terms.

EDIT: just saw people saying he was looking at other clubs :p

Was expected, but wishing him the best of luck for either East Perth. (Or Carlton) ;)

I was just thinking the same thing.......Carlton could really do with a big time FullForward. Have we made a mistake with delisting him? Could we have traded with the blues for a Carlton defender (IIRC they have some good your KP defenders).

I am not sure if he is a good fit at Carlton. Carlton have a few good forwards, see Favola, Withnal in KP spots and Lappin and Hoolihan in crumbing roles.

I do agree that we could have maybe traded him to a club and if there is a club that needs an experianced full forward its probably the Bulldogs.

On a further note Wilson does have bad knees and I wonder if he will go to another club next year. Also on the West's website today they were discussing the possibility of him becoming a rev head and start up a speedway career.

Cheers

If an AFL club is after a mature forward they would be better off having a look at Brad Smith. Apparently the Eagles and Bulldogs have shown some interest...

Thanks heaps for all the great memories Troy. I've enjoyed watching you play and talking with you when we have been able to catch up in Melbourne. I hope things work out for you in future. You're a great bloke and a rare gentleman in the world of the AFL. We'll miss you. :(

Hope your plans to drive speedway cars at the Kwinana complex works out. Just don't blow the engine all the time like you did to that poor Ford out at Barbagello !!

You maybe gone from the squad but will never be forgotten mate

Cheers
