But, I will be watching the Winter Olympics, for the speed skating, but i'll be definately be watching "The Ice Dream" by Roy and HG.

yep i so agree... luv em! if it's half as good as last time... i'll still be happy!!!
of course there is that slight problem of botehring to stay up until then...right now i'm finding i hard to stay awake until 9!!!

The highlight for me was it cutting to Roy and HG straight after the ceremony.

"Well that was a stinker! God! It was NOTHING compared to Sydney!"
LOL you guns! :D

Go you Good Things!

Did anyone else notice the similarities between last nights opening ceremony and the one performed in Sydney....from what i saw of it, there were a fair few similarities there

Except for that whole ice thing in the middle of the field...:p

$even's coverage hasn't been too bad considering, but last night showed why 90 minutes minus ads is just too short a time and should start at 8:30pm

5 minutes of luge, 10 seconds of a speed skating final which included a world record tacked on at the end as an after thought and bugger all Ice Hockey once again

Best thing of all of last night's coverage was NO FRIGGING ICE SKATING but that can't last

And as for the waste of an hour of airtime which could be used for showing the sport called the Ice Dream, Roy & HG remain the unfunniest turds on Australian TV! Must be a Sydney thing why they keep getting their heads on TV as their TV rating's over the years on all their poor excuses for programs have been abysmal

I have a trivial question about Salt Lake City, by now at least everyone knows that it's the home city of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints (the Mormon church). I read how in Salt Lake City up to 70% of the population is Mormon. I wanna know what do Mormon people do in Salt Lake City? Continually knock on the doors of the 30% of people who aren't yet Mormon?

Some of you may have heard about Roy and HG's plans for Smiggin Holes in 2010, I have a feeling we might not get it. On the other hand I read how Christchurch is bidding for the 2014 which would be great if they get it. I guess many of the events would be based around Queenstown, I've haven't been there yet unfortunately but have heard good things about the place from everyone who has. I'd go to the 2014 Winter Olympics for sure if they were held in Christchurch.

Who knows by then, New Zealand might even be part of Australia! :p

(Only joking Kiwi Bigfooty posters)

The official bidders for the 2010 Winter Olympics are Andorra La Vella (Andorra), Bern (Switzerland), Harbin (China), Jaca (Spain), Pyeongchang (South Korea), Salzburg (Austria), Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Vancouver (Canada)

Vancouver is the early favourite with Sarajevo the 'sentimental' fovourite

Will be voted on mid 2003

:D I like the winter olympics.. but its past my beddie byes so i only get to watch the stupid figure skating

i'm only new around here, but i'm going to step on some toes. have u ppl all gone mad!!! Ice hockey is one of the worst sports available. All american sports are boring and rather non intelligent. If u ppls want to get out and play a real game i'll give u all agame of squash and let's c how far u guys get.
OH! and if u want to watch some ppl with a little bit of skill and brains not brawn, then watch the figure skating. it's all class and grace.

Good. Then the Australian Federal government can pay for it.

Just what the South Island needs. A Stadium New Zealand.

You wouldn't know **** from clay!! What a challenge........a game of squash? This is one of the greatest 'first posts' I've ever seen. I'm betting that you'd probably **** in your underpants if you entered a hockey rink and actually tried playing something which had some body contact.
You haven't treaded on any toes here, you've just exposed yourself as a complete dufus.

"PEANUT GALLERY":D

Ice hockey is very ordinary watching. If the puck was more frisby sized so I could at least see the bloody thing instead of just a bunch of players waving there sticks around and running into each other.

I also have a problem with events like the luge, bob sled etc. All it seems to involve is giving the buggy a bit of a push, let out a few whoo, whoo, whoo's and jump on. Hardly seems to justify four years intense training at the nations expense.

The only events that I have a problem with being in the Winter Olympics are the Snowboarding Halfpipe events, sure they are cool, exciting, get bums on seats, and there's plenty of skill involved but they belong more in the Winter X Games than the Winter Olympics IMO. If I were an avid skateboarder I'd be lobbying the IOC to enter my sport in the Summer Games seeing they have the winter equivalent now days in the Winter Games.
