i got mine out this morning and i feel fine, how long do most people take to get over it?

Oh Casey, Casey, you are one of the lucky ones!! I had to have mine taken out 5 DAYS before I was due to fly out, overseas. I had no bleeding (or very little), hardly any swelling, or discolouration, as they told me that may happen. BUT i had the pain. Extreme pain.. couldnt eat anything for about 2 days, then after that i graduated up to tinned spaghetti and ice cream for 2 more days after that.

To anyone about to get their wisdom teeth out, you have my sincere best wishes. :)

I've had 5 pulled (********ing annoying things they are) and each time it has been different . It takes around 3 to 4 days til you stop feeling any pain ( well thats for normal people) It only takes me around a day or 2. Just make sure you wash your mouth out with plenty of salt water everytime you eat or smoke ( Not for the first 24 hours though) otherwise you will get a dry Socket they are ********ing painful:mad: and worse than any toothache.

i've had 3 out recently, and was lucky in that i had no pain. just a lot of discomfort for a few days when it came to eating. i just found it very annoying as you couldn't eat properly.

Never had mine out.

Knew one guy who had his out day of footy training...came to training with his mouth full of bandages and was clearly in pain.... ran laps etc and said after he could feel the wind flow through the holes

I had all 4 of mine out in March last year. I had a general anaesthetic and I was terrified. My face was badly swollen afterwards and I had a bit of discomfort but it wasn't too bad for me. Maybe that was because the infections I had gotten leading up to the op were so incredibly painful, (most pain I've ever experienced and I've had two children) that my thresh hold for pain had grown so I didn't feel it as badly. All in all it wasn't a pleasant experience, I had numbness in my chin and around my mouth that was still there a couple of months later.

I'm due to get mine out in march. Thanks for the positive stories guys...

I'm not bothered, I don't feel pain, I'm a machine.

Got mine out 2 weeks ago, went under general anesthetic as one of the bottom teeth was horizontally impacted so it was coming out sideways and pushing all the other teeth

Got all 4 out in one hit - to be quite honest, had heaps of swelling for a week and a bit of pain (no food also) but overall i thought it'd be a lot worse

Oh, and i've got a big hole where that impacted tooth used to be now, so drinking anything cold is killing me there at the moment

Good luck to anyone that has to get them out!

I expect a heap of ridicule for this!!

But I honestly was born without them.

From some of the posts I am glad of that fact!

I was told today I had to have my wisdom teeth out. The dentist said they are a nuisance at the moment but they haven't been giving me any grief. I might put it off for now.

Worst experience EVER. I was knocked out and had all 4 taken out of my jaw and suffered for at least a month. I hope yours isn't as bad!

**************** docs pulled a chunk of my lower jawbone out with the teeth.
I look like a HORSE when i eat now :thumbsd::thumbsd:
Then had a SEIZURE in recovery !
Then got an ABCESS cos i kept smoking !!
Good fortnight that !!!!

Have only had one out and that was because it was a choice between having it filled or an extraction - chose removal cos it was cheaper. By the way, had it done during my lunch hour - no pain, zilch, nada. Best dentist in the world IMO (Devonshire Rd Sunshine - probably gone now)

you hear of them getting pulled out from ppl all the time
if theyre so wise why dont they stay in your mouth longer?

Mmmmmm PETHADINE :thumbsu:

over rated.
I had mine taken out (all 4) and I was fine a day and a half later. Eating is a little difficult but there was very little pain at all. Whats more the dentist said that mine was a serious case in which the teeth were about to grow into the nerve. If people think this is pain they havent felt much...

I had one removed in the bottom row last year.

The pain was fine (should have been with all the needles they shoved in there) and I even thanked the dentist as I left. He had trouble as the tooth was bigger than was expected, so had to grind the top of the toth to make room to pull it.

I was fine for the rest of the day, but I reacted to the anaesthetic (it was only a local) and was throwing up for a week, while being unable to eat or keep anything down. Due to the dark yellow vomit that kept removing itself from my stomach, my tooth hole got infected. Took 3 weeks to recover from the wisodm tooth extraction.

Need to get my other 3 take out, but after previous experiences, a little scared to do it.
