Had my 2 top ones out in the chair - and was fine that night.........had the 2 bottom ones out in the chair a month later.....and was a blithering fool for 3 days...... ........:o

I guess it just depends

I agree, I had my top one taken out and I was like "Is that it?" probably a good thing because I had my bottom 2 pulled out yesterday and one of them was a biatch, absolutely killed but it wasn't the pulling out that hurt it was the "loosening" I thought he was going to break my jaw! :p

Thankfully the other bottom one wasn't as bad as the first one to get out  But I ended up with stitches which I have to have removed in a week and I am not looking forward to that :(

Had all mine out at once, with a local. Not probs, just keep taking painkillers like lollies and was fine, slept alot but 48 hours later 100%. Stitches were annoying though. just dangling there. Fantastic Dentist!

I had 4 out in one sitting and was one of the lucky ones who had little pain. Bit of discomfort was about it.

I've just been told i need all 4 of mine out.

Have yet to ring up and book an apartment but im not looking forward to it..

Hopefully i'll be as lucky as you and wont feel much pain.

It's not too bad afterwards. Irrigating the holes where your teeth were several times a day isn't that enjoyable though. But you will feel much better knowing they're not there to give you any trouble now or in the future.

i got mine out this morning and i feel fine, how long do most people take to get over it?

Did you get all 4 taken out?

I had mine taken out a few years ago and my whole face was swollen and i woke up from the anesethic with a mouth full of blood. I then had 4 holes where my teeth were and food was getting stuck in the holes. I gargled about 40 times a day but this didn't help. I went to my dentist in a frenzy thinking they were infected or they'd fu*ked up the operation. He smiled and reassured me that all was fine, he gave me this plastic siringe and i had to squirt salty water in the holes....

Have booked a consultation..didn't realise how expensive it was. $980!! And even more if you want it done in hospital (put asleep)

I didn't think there was anything worse than paying for a speeding fine... but it seems getting wisdom teeth taken out is much more painful and four times the cost!

I had two out, then one side got infected. :(
Maybe I didn't rinse with salt water enough or something like that....but it resulted in a follow up procedure with just local anaesthetic and after that wore off it was excrutiating pain.

I was told today I had to have my wisdom teeth out. The dentist said they are a nuisance at the moment but they haven't been giving me any grief. I might put it off for now.
It would have been 2 years ago now that I had mine taken out (early 2005) and my case was similar to yours - there was no urgency in getting rid of them. But I thought I'd just get it out of the way. I underwent general anaesthetic and there was no real pain, just numbness. I had to take antibiotics to prevent infection and had a mouthful of blood alot of the time, but didn't have to use painkillers.

Yeah nicky, I used that syringe with the salty water as well, did you have to use a gauze as well?

Just make sure you wash your mouth out with plenty of salt water everytime you eat or smoke ( Not for the first 24 hours though)
LOL, surely the pain you feel would put you off smoking just for a few days? Might be a good way to help you quit...

I think that I need to get one of my bottom ones out as it has been causing me a fair bit of pain lately, my teeth are ********ed up enough as it is I don't want them causing any more problems.

Can someone tell me how it compares to getting a big mutha********er baby tooth out because I had 5 of them taken out?

it depends on how bad it actually is, They are all about the same in the pain factor BUT if you have an absess or an infection they feel 10 times worse.

Edit: I will let you know incase you didn't know Fillings hurt more that getting your teeth ripped out. If they ask if you want it filled say No its only delaying things and it isnt a permanant fix just get it ripped out its going to ripped out eventually anyway.

I must confess to all I have been spoilt when it comes to wisdom teeth. Some people get up to 4 wisdom teeth at a time, some get none, I on the other hand have had 5 Wisdom Teeth pulled ( Yes I'm serious) with a 6th one to be pulled out soon and 2 more coming through and I'm not Bull********ting either I'm deadly Serious so all up I've had 8 wisdom teeth 2 on each side and I tell you It aint cool it ********ing sucks.

You should see the dentist when they are about to extract them and then shortly after the look they say " That can't be right you have had wisdom tooth ripped from there already"

Are you sure they weren't your molars?

Not everyone has just incisors throughout their mouth. Are you trying to become some kind of vampire and make sure you just need to suck liquid food and not chew?
