It's a slow day at work today, folks. I was watching an old video the other day when an ad came on for Wobbie's World, quite possibly the world's worst theme park. For those people outside of Melbourne it defied description. The 'attractions' and I use the word loosely, consisted of old Army surplus, ex-railway equipment, an old helicopter and aeroplane that didn't fly. They introduced a new ride called 'splashdown' which seriously looked like an old bathtub on rollerskates which was pushed down some masonite into a kiddie wading pool.

Sadly:) Wobbie's World is no longer with us, as a housing estate has been built on its former grounds. Did anyone go there and were you disappointed with it as much as I was?

My kids loved that place, we used to go there a lot & have a barbie, the kids loved the helicopter, I also have heaps of photos of my kids, plus others that tagged along with us. :D

Made the trek down to Nudawading once when I was little. I remember going on the helicopter, and whinging cos the thing wouldn't fly; I remember the fireman and that hose; I remember there was a trampoline you could jump on; and I remember the mini golf putting.

It's like Gold Coast on Melbourne surburbia! ;)

Spot on Docker_Brat. And Mantis, your kids must have been more easily entertained than I was.;)

I'm astonished that anyone could resist after this high powered sales pitch from the kid with the high pitched voice ...

At Wobbie's World there's heaps to do
Bring your friends, and Mum too
Visit the castle or fly in the sky
Wobbie's World has lots of rides
Helicopters, fire engines, trams and slides
Wobbie's World
Springvale Road, Nunawading
It's great at Wobbie's World

I went once, and I remember being annoyed that there was no Airport West tram. Where's the realism goddammit?!

Don't leave that car just sitting in a heap
Come to Pick A Part where everything's cheap
2nd hand parts for 2nd hand cars
From a door to a wheel or a bumberbar
Now at Pick A Part there's nothin on the shelf
Just bring your tools and do it all yourself

etc etc

Oy! No half measures!

Check out the cars for the part that's right
You're sure to find it; there's hundreds on site
Then you strip the car for the parts you need
(pick-a-part pick-a-part pick-a-part pick-a-part)
But do it carefully, cos there's no warranty

Fussell Road, Kilsyth - seven days a week
Entry's free and everything's cheap

I've always wondered about that "entry's free" line. Is there a car graveyard down the road charging admission or something?

And for you Rip ...

Pizza Singles, she'sa the snack for me
Wholesome, natural, witha no MSG
(I nearly typed GST then)

Now I'm struggling ... they taste divine, I remember that much.

I never went to Wobbies' World or Gumbayah Park, but I have did go to a really dodgy dinosaur park outside Ballarat as a kid (is that the one you're referring to, Nic?) and Kryal Kastle. Now that place is hilarious! For some reason, though, whenever I see the promos for Martin Lawrence's '"Black Knight", I can't help thinking of that place!

The Anakie Fairy Park-the greatest kid's playground in the Southern Hemisphere. The Dinosaur Park is in Creswick-by memory it's just a picnic ground with some concrete dinosaurs. Gumbuyah Park-I actually fell off the toboggan ride and ripped my footy jumper when I was 10. Kryal Castle is great as well-any place where the 'whipping of the wench' is a major attraction is OK with me.

And Danny Chook-your rendition of the Pick-a Part ad is scary. I thought I was the only person in the world who could do it. And the entry is free bit is a thing of the past-it cost a dollar to get in now.

There was also another one that my dad use to take me and my brothers too every 2nd weekend.

It was on the way to Phillip Island, I aint 100% sure what it was called, it might be the Swagman??? i dunno.

It had heaps of ****, it was phat.
