One of the commentators described Wood thus last night and I must say, I agree.

Our drafting as been wonderful in recent years - obviously, we can't get it right all of the time and I am seriously wondering if this one was wrong. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy and obviously want him to shine but I just question when the "presence" is going to come. Am I being too harsh?

Walls was the one who said that Wood was "Robotic" and at times he does.

Wood's Big problem as you said is his Physical Presence in that he does not have any. Just look like he is not 100% confident in himself.

Because he does have the Skill to be a A-Grade Ruckman but it does look like he does not Trust himself out there

Agreed really are concerned about the progress of this bloke. Seems as if he lacks awareness and hardness. It is one area where we are deficient in (ruck) and i hope he comes along this year. Cameron Cloke would be handy to have in our side thats for sure.

I still think he can develop into very good ruckman for us, but he's letting himself down at the moment.

I agree and let's not forget he is still learning.
There are very few Ruckman who dominate at his age.
I doubt he will be truly ready for at least 2 years

Also did not play footy as a Kid where he Played baseball and Started with ALF around 16 I Think

He still looks skinny, even despite having filled out enormously since U18's. He's got to be given game-time to achieve some consistent form, I'm not worried about him at this stage. It's not as if he squibs it, he just lacks intensity and gets caught under the ball a bit.

He needs more time to develop....calm down everyone. he will be a solid ruckman.

I agree keep playing him he can learn on the run
we still have Fraser for around the ground

But is it better for him and the team if he learns at VFL level?

As far as i can remember he hasn't starred in the reserves or demanded elevation into the seniors. Its been more that Bryan's form has dropped and Wood is the automatic selection.

I just finished watching the Carlton/Geelong game and I was wondering about Cam the entire game. Is it one of those situations where the structure and deficiencies Carlton has is the reason he is looking so good. Or did we let him go prematurely?

I think the former. He plays really well as a backup ruckman (which we could use....) but he just seems to be killing them across half forward and inside the 50 as he seems to play up there quite a bit. Now, we have an abundance of tall forward talent so he would probably not be so useful for us.

Probably a win for us to let him go and a win for him as he seems to be doing really well there. Typical Collingwood story it seems especially for any of us that head to Sydney.

I think you missed the entire part when Harry taylor (his little brothers bitch) completely annihilated him and got 29 touches from CHB just personally.

Cam cloke is still the same lousy player we let go

I was disgusted at him at the Richmond NAB Cup game I watched him for the best part of 10 minutes not just meandering without a thought of getting the ball, but also actually seeming to run away from a brewing contest time and time again and doing absolutely nothing basically except going for a leisurely jog wherever the ball was not until he was forced into action by a goal or a throw-in.

This is one guy who seriously needs to lift his game, big disappointment thus far. His on-field demeanour and endeavour is way off.

Wood is the reason a "cattle prod" should be an integral part of any coach's kit.

As of the 4th of this month, Wood is 22. From all reports on Keefe, I reckon that he might scoot past Cameron and leave him in his wake. Cam Wood was a better player in his first game with us than he was on Friday night. The Pies seem rather fond of skinny ruckmen.

I agree I also noticed he seems to walk around the ground and only run when he has too. Does not look very good

I'm not suggesting that Wood will be anything like Dean Cox however Cox only started to dominate games toward the end of his fourth year, when he was 23. So give Cam some time. He's a good grab and will only get better around the ground.
And yes, he shhits all over Richards.

He's way way better than Richards.

Guy Richards couldn't even play good footy in the WAFL.

He truly is a definition of a hack.
