After a talk with the coaching staff at the start of 2011, Wood has become more committed, and has given himself the best chance of extending his career.

"We had discussions early last year and he's picked up off the back of that and really made some changes in his life," coach Nathan Buckley said on Thursday.

"It's great to see a young person understand the situation they're in, and not expect things are just going to change without their will and their actions, and he's been able to do that."

Very Intresting Article here about Wood. Sounds like he was just going of his Potential and not putting in but going by Bucks interview the Penny might of Dropped Last season and he is putting the Hard Yards in.

Hopefully he can go to a whole new level this season

I remember the club saying something similar last year, but it's good to read about. It did appear like it was his attitude 2010 and previous that was holding him back. I thought last year he showed good signs of improvement, and I feel he'll keep improving to be a handy player for the side. He still has a bit of work to do but again, it's good to read coming from the coaching staff.

i am hopeful he will do well, bucks wouldnt say that had he not put in. We know how high his standards are for preparing to play a game

Had 30 hit-outs last weekend.

Hope that's a sign of things to come. He's ahead of the reserves at Collingwood, but if he has an ordinary one the club might just grab a feeder comp player. Can't pay another 1st rounder.

Word coming out of the club over the past few months has really got me excited about Wood this season, expecting a huge breakout year from Cam!

What have you been Hearing Frankie?

Used to see Cam at the beach hotel every other weekend walking sideways... Now that the pies have sold that pub it seems he might have no where else to go. Good to see him actually do what he is paid to do - train hard and stay away from the piss. Now lets hope he actually plays a decent game football.

Massive year for cam. I don't think jolly has much 1st ruckman left in him after this year, but would still be great forward/2nd ruck. If wood doesn't step up he will be gone especially with our cap situation. Have to check his contract situation.

I remember thinking when I watched the 2010 GF replay that Cam Wood looked absolutely smashed when he ran out onto the ground to celebrate with the players. And that was probably the off field problems that Bucks was alluding to.
I thought Wood was ok last season. I remember he did a pretty admirable job against Cox and Nicnat, arguably better than Jolly did in the final.
He's not going to light it up against the Blues, but as long as he brings intensity, effort and a contest it will be good for the rest of the year, as I think he will improve with 6-10 games in the seniors consecutively.
He was good against Freo as a forward, and he isn't bad over head so resting him down there in the seniors may also prove fruitful.

In my opinion, as far as previous output compared to potential 2012 output, Cam Wood is the most critical player for us this year.
