I don't recall being against Voss's appointment.

In fact, I was probably for it. But getting carried away with little supporting evidence is a wee bit silly.
Sure is. Just like we don't know whether he and Brisbane will turn it around (though at this stage they aren't looking great).

Bodazoka, we also have some experienced talent in Cox and Glass, great midrange potential in LeCras, hurn and Kennedy and a few gun looking youngsters. Will this alone be enough to lift us the ladder?

Isn't there a saying that goes along the lines of "those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones".

Not having a go at anyone directly, but this probably didn't need a bump and we should be careful before again (pre-emptively) casting judgement.

Voss would have made a fantastic assisstant coach for the eagles, it is a shame that he didn't get to have that experience before moving back to Brisbane. There has been a lot of changes at the Lions but for now he is still there as coach. I would think that both Voss and Woosha know they are under the pump so it will be interesting to track Brisbane and the Eagles over the next few years. I am a Queenslander in WA so I found this thread quite interesting.

Personally Id be suprised if our entire best 22 on the park each week are enough to get us out of the bottom 4 this year.

You are a better man then I am D&M Id like to see Brisbane finish bottom and Rich to get traded to us! haha mabye its just the competetive streak with the season being so close!

All though the best scenario is that Brisbane knock one of the Vic teams out of the top 8 and Rich still comes to us! :thumbsu::D

Would love to snare Rich.:)

Bet they will make us pay at the trading table if the opportunity arises. I reckon if he has a blinder this year though he will stay put.

You can bump my post then if you wish - it's all in good fun.

Having said that, it doesn't change the notion that people being excited he was signing was based on little demonstrative evidence.

Hahahahaha I probably won't but understood on both counts.

*sigh* A star player a star coach does not make.

For all the hubub the media made when Collingwood formed the succesion plan it may yet turn out to be an inspired move. Forgetting for a moment Malthouse coul face a premature departure, it has meant Buckley has a very very soild grounding when his time comes to take over. It also gave the board a chance to fully vet his coaching potential.

I suppose the other method is the "Hird" method, that Brisbane could still emulate. With the current trend for coaches to become more of a general manager of football operations, with an onus being on increased media facetime and better comminications, surrounding Voss with quality assistants may be the way to go (if at all possible).

Have Voss as a motivator and face of the club, whilst delagating more matchday and tactical responsibility to specialist staff and coaches. The major issue I see though is do Brisbane have the money or pull that Essendon have to achieve this.

It is a path I hope WC can follow though, which makes me excited about the appointment of the highly rated Teague. A spread of the responsibility, instead of hiring matchstick men who can later be used as scapegoats.
