No there is a lot of luck involved. It all depends on your first word; everyone would have a different one and it could contain relevant letters or none. But at least you can eliminate those letters.

My advice would be to practise on Octordle. You get a lot more guesses and you can use up the first three or four with words that contain as many different letters as possible, then the words are a lot easier to work out. You also learn about the kind of words they go for - these are common across all the puzzles.

I find Wordle and Dordle the trickiest, but the bigger ones are easier.

That's pretty much what happened for me yesterday - pretty sure this isn't giving away any spoilers since we're now into the next day, but will use spoiler tag just in case



My 1st word was 'stoae', so eliminated EST

2nd word was 'polar' which eliminated 2 more common letters in LR, and meant that the word started or ended with O

There was no obvious word staring with O, as something like 'organ' was out due to no R

That meant looking at options ending in AO, and 'cacao' is a word used in the other games, so took a guess

do you think many people are cheating in this game?

My mum is getting 2 and 3 every time. I'm skeptical

I've had many times where I'm getting 3 to 4 letters with 5-6 possible words. You can't consistently land in 2 or 3.

I don’t know how you can cheat, other than seeing someone else’s solution. What’s her starting word? It’s pure luck to choose a starting word that contains enough of the right letters to make a good guess and get it out in 2. Is she telling you this or have you observed it with your own eyes 👀?

Why would anyone cheat? It’s just a puzzle.
