I've seen plenty of those companies or whatever offering work from home schemes where some claim you can earn $1k a week etc etc, i think you all know the ones i am t alking about. Just wanted to find out, whats the catch? I was going to suss one out, but sometimes just reading about them it seems too good to be true. Anyone with any information on how they operate, or what their catch is? (Going overseas in September, wouldnt mind the extra $$$)

I thought as much. It just looks too good to be true and you are right, if you could earn as much as they advertise, then i guess everyone would be doing it.

LOL, the fact that you're even considering this shows that there are many desperate people who get sucked in.

I've seen work from home scams where they say you can "earn $2K a week doing surveys". I downloaded one of those e-books for free off bittorrent and signed up to some of the free survey sites - I got surveys but they paid $4 for a 20-minute survey, so I didn't bother. I still get them in my spam folder today.

But one thing you should note, when they say "earn $2K a week" that's about the maximum you can earn if you have the right luck etc. It's like saying you can earn $10million owning a chain of mobile phone stores. Crazy John has done it, but is it really that easy for you to do it?

I agree. Ebay is a great place to start and everyone know it is a legitimate way of making money online.
But not everyone knows easy ways to make money from it. Often items can go unsold and it takes time to build up your business as well as handling customer queries.

Check out my blog for more details on how to make an income from ebay now!

Yere I've seen those gimmicky ads. I even rang one of them up. Don't waste your time on them.

It took me the best part of 3 years to find a profitable, enjoyable home based business.

I brought a Mortgage Choice franchise. It's a great business to run from a home based office, mostly during the day. At night, I'm usually visiting clients.

It's very hard work, but is well rewarding.

Just think...no more traffic snarls in the morning or overcrowded, late trains. No more feeling guilty about ringing up work when you take a sickie & no more phony certificates from doctor's.

If you have not heard of anyone you know making money......you know it is a scam

How can you possibly call this a scam... working from home can mean doing many diffrent jobs from home, main one that comes to mind for me is graphic designer... I know of graphic designers making around 3g's a week from home.. its very possible, not a scam..

Exactly, you can make money working from home, but SIHC's post re the surveys is pretty accurate - they always make outrageous claims and suck enough people in. "Earn $6,214 a week!" is not usually achievable to most with the type of money making schemes they peddle.

Bill Gates made billions software developing but that doesn't mean all software developers can achieve that.

People easily fall for scams - see the Nigerian money scandals, where some idiot Australians actually keep sending money...
