I remember it well, Clarke made an unbeaten century but totally screwed any chance Australia had with his extremely slow batting, finished about 40 runs below par even with Whites amazing innings
Yes, it was Clarkes disgraceful 111 off 139 balls that cost us that one. Marsh getting an 11 ball duck and Paine scoring 9 off 24 balls were much better innings

I really don't get this hype about spinners for the WC. Sure it is in India.. but spinners don't play huge parts in ODI games there as the tracks are mostly flat decks. Looking at the last 10 or so ODI's, only one spinner seemed to do good and that was an Indian spinner I'd never heard of.

The issue is about pace on to the bat - it's becoming apparent (particularly through 20/20, which is why we often have spinners opening the bowling), that pace, especially pace that lacks control, is easier to score off. With spinners, batsmen will have to put their own pace on the ball - plus, it's often easier for a spinner to be more accurate or force an error.

It's why a bowler who is seemingly well past it in first class level in Stuart Clark is so effective at twenty20 level at present, puts it on the spot and makes the batsmen do all the work.

Stalking? That's hilarious! Who are you? I don't remember having ever read anything you've written before that post, or having responded to anything you've written. Maybe you take note of the name of everyone whose posts you respond to, and keep a little journal of how many times you've responded to something they've said, but that doesn't mean the rest of us do. I think you might be a bit paranoid. Although going by what I see you've put as your location, maybe a lot paranoid.

You would need to take notes and keep journal entries in order to recall if you'd received repeated and completely unnecessary personal abuse from someone, would you? And you'd also need to keep names of the one and only person on the site who has sunk to such depths, would you? Really?

Well, sorry to shatter those absurd theories, but all I require is a very basic memory actually. And all it then takes is just a click of a couple of buttons and a quick copy and paste to let me confirm even these few things that you've said about me on a couple of threads just over the space of the last four days alone:

According to you, I talk "rubbish" and "trash", I have a "problem" and I'm "paranoid".

Apparently, I am also "ridiculous", a "joke", "born yesterday", you are "concerned about (my) sanity" and you think it's "very safe to say" that I'm "completely full of shit".

If you make ridiculous, derogatory statements like the one you did about Hauritz and Hastings, you've got to expect something in return, especially since they aren't here to defend themselves. If you can't take it, maybe it's you who ought to go "elsewhere".

Here's another little piece of advice for you: I couldn't actually give a stuff if you agree with my opinion of Hastings and Hauritz or not. Especially when the overwhelming majority of assessments you seem to have made of various cricketers' talents on this board haven't related to their actual abilities, but purely whether they happen to live close to you or not.

Think what you like about Hastings, Hauritz or anybody else (or my statements about them) for all I care.

But, if you want to break just about every rule of the forum by becoming so personally abusive of another member of the site, that's another matter entirely.

As far as I'm concerned, you can actually choose to behave like a civilised human being and retract and then desist with such comments, or you can face the consequences. It's really up to you.

For mine, Brad Haddin is probably one of the better finishers we have in the squad now that Hussey is likely to miss. Open with Watson and Marsh and shift Haddin down to 6/7.

Watson
Marsh
Ponting
Clarke
White
Haddin
Smith/D.Huss.

If they're going to continue to stick with Haddin and stupidly keep playing him ahead of Paine ... then yeah, that's probably a better move.

I'm not sure if I entirely agree with you about him being all that great a finisher, though.

Hauritz deserves to be there. He'll have a good world cup and will fit straight back into the test side.

test form is rubbish, ODI form is very good.

should be in the ODI side, should only be in the test side when pakistani fixers are arranging the outcome.

As much as anything, I think that Christian is not in the team because of balance. We already have Johnson, Tait and Lee who are not that economical so if they wanted a bowling all-rounder, of which they do, I think Hasting's had to get the gig over Christian (and I'm a Redback fan).

Although Christian has taken 15 wickets in the Ryobi Cup, his economy rate is something like 6.74. That's pretty unacceptable for a ODI bowler at domestic level.

4.56 in india, 4.74 career

1/34 (9)
0/54 (10)
1/48 (10)
2/31 (9)
0/43 (5)
0/19 (9)
0/54 (10)

Just as I thought, pretty bloody good.

Media again picking and choosing their information. We have enough wicket takers so just need Haury to tie up and end and fire through some quick overs, although it is always good to see a few wickets go to the spinners.

Hoggy did his bit for sure, wouldn't mind having him around now. A back up option that strong is handy.
