I really despise "The Dreamer's Disease". That car ad is always bloody on, it's driving me crazy! People singing daily is not my idea to promote cars. Oh, and the Mirtre 10 ad "Look what we've done, to our place" deserves a mention, very corny. I'll run down some more ads which give me the urge to smash my TV:

- That Cadbury advertisment - "Wouldn't it be nice".
- Westons biscuts.
- Any McDonalds ads.
- That Melbourne recruitment ad: "Our team needs people that can't play football" (although not bad in general, the slogan is pretty funny, since... well, you know what I mean).

Which ad(s) drives you insane, and gives you the urge to push the channel button on the remote?

That ad is just BLASPHEMOUS!!!!!! Not only is it a Beach Boys song they had the nerve to choose one from PET SOUNDS.

We have some absolute shocker road safety ads on over here at the moment.

While the ads should be getting across a good message, the music in the ads just pisses me off to the max.

One has whiney choir boys singing ... "two and two are four, four and four are eight ... etc"

Another is about about driving tired and just really annoys me everytime I see it.

Very worthy and needed ads to have on TV, but whoever was made to choose the music had an absolute shocker!!

It goes on about "wouldn't it be nice to be made out of chocolate?" Well... did they think of the Sun as a factor? You'll die in minutes. Age? Rain? ;)

The original song is a very optimistic song about wishing to be old enough to be married and do all 'grown-up' stuff, not wishing to be made out of f*cking chocolate!!!!!!!!!!

How DARE they.

I'm sick of that Primus one with the woman having a cheap conversation on the phone. "He must be on the torlet"...annoying!

I don't think that any of the ads that run on Aussie TV are as annoying as those that run on American TV-- that can take up another thread on its own.

Having said that, and sticking to the topic here, I can't say that I dislike any of the ads here. However, my wife doen't like me grinning at any of the ads for "40 Winks", for the fear that the blonde in that ad could be winking at me. ;)

Cheers,
William

Talking of American ads

The Oreo ads. They infuriate me.
Especially the one that used to be on tv all.the.time. With the little boy and the dog. "My mom says... that chocolate isn't good for dogs... but you can have some of my milk" It wasn't the fact that the little brat was supposed to be lovable and make us all laugh, when instead it made us want to punch him. It wasn't even the fact that once he'd said that, a cheesy voicover said "Only Oreo" as if we're supposed to look back into childhood memories which we never had of Oreos. It was the fact that it cut off with Oreo written on the screen, with a little brand symbol down the bottom which I think was a sun with 3 rays, because the rays lit up with the "bing bing bIng" at the end which seemed to end this movie production. It was those bings that made me want to hit the tv screen. Sorry I'm not a violent person. But certain ads make me very tetchy.

Oh and the three for free drove me mad. Both of the characters drove me mad, and what made it worse was that people were going around melbourne saying "fwee for fwee" randomly in conversations.

As for good ads, there's this one for some brand of socks I think at the moment with a man dressed up as a red sock going around the shopping centre asking everyone if they've seen his friend who looks like him. He asks at the info desk and they point out another man dressed as a red sock on the top floor. "Nah that's not him, but thanks anyway" gets me every time

Haven't we done this thread before? I'm getting massive deja vu typing this post.

I don't recall that one, but if you disliked that one what about the 'Good Guys' ad where the song "Good Vibrations" is distorted and destroyed. Hopefully that ad doesn't go on for too much longer.

Oh god yes. That one still gets me angry when I hear it. The thing that REALLY bugs me with that one is that the backing track sounds uncannily like one of the original backing tracks for the song. I've heard maybe 30 hours of GV out-takes and yeah. Makes me VERY mad indeed. Especially with GV being the song of the century and all that.

Trust me wagstaff, this 'wouldn't it be nice' one is slightly worse, wait till you see it.

I'm not sure who actually owns 'Sea Of Tunes' (the Beach Boys catalogue to 1969) but they are certainly doing a wonderful job to disrespect the songs.

I believe that it was the frustrated songwriter father of the Wilsons, Murry Wilson, who was behind selling those songs and enabling them to be sullied by commercial advertising.

As for the terrible way these songs sound in the ads, maybe this was Murry's revenge and how they would've sounded if he had composed them. :D

Yes, lovely Murry, who sold the songs for about a quarter of their value. Ever seen the TV movie 'The Beach Boys: An American Family'??? At the start of the movie it shows Murry sending Mike Love away and bullying Brian into letting him have the song rights. And later on there is a very accurate portrayal of Murry selling the songs and sending Brian over the edge. :( Mike Love also sued Brian Wilson for that in the early 90s.

Hehehehe have you ever heard Murry's own composition 'Two Step Side Step'???? Ahhhhhhhh god it's addictive, but lacking his son's creativity. However, he did co-write one of the best Beach Boys songs, 'Break Away', with Brian, under the name Reggie Dunbar (although no one is really sure WHY he used an alias lol).

No kidding. I bought the 'very best of the Beach Boys' CD a few weeks ago and 'Break Away' which has been ignored somewhat because it doesn't get much air play on radio like some Beach Boys songs do. It's a very good song with a very catchy tune.

A couple of things really interest me with 'Break Away'. One, it never appeared on a BB album - it was actually the 'contractual obligation' single!!!!!! The Beach Boys very last Captiol single. The other staggering thing is that it charted so badly....#63

The standouts for me are Carl Wilson's brilliant vocals on the verses (right up there with his best), and the very honest lyrics. It's a huge favourite among the fans, as is the 'Wild Honey' album which was also largely ignored by critics and the general public.

Those mazda zoom zoom ads with that little kid.
That other car ad with the twats singing in there car.
All Calvin Klien and ANY perfume ads.
Those "Look what we've done to our place" ads.
The Wombat Gully ads with that annoying curly haired c*nt.
That stupid nrl ad.
Every single ad that is on MTV.
That channel 9 promotion where there all dancing like twats.
Ads that have australian voices dubbed over an annoying yank accent voice.

That Enjo ad "enjo enjo enjo, with cleaning we will go"

Also there is a very unique ad that was shown in Perth over Easter promoting bras. It went something along the lines of "LADIES LADIES LADIES, WE'RE SELLING BRAAAAAAAAS, THATS RIGHT BRAAAAAAS. BRAS BRAS BRAS. THE BRANDS YOU KNOW, THE BRANDS YOU DONT KNOW AND THE BRANDS YOUR PROBABLY ALREADY WEARING. BRAAAAAAAS FOR ONLY ONE DOLLAR, THATS RIGHT ONE DOLLAR. WHERE? THE BURSWOOD DOME. WHERE? THE BURSWOOD DOME. FROM 7AM-9PM, THATS RIGHT 7AM-9PM. EASTER FRIDAY, EASTER SATURDAY AND EASTER SUNDAY, THE BUUUUURSWOOD DOME!"

The best ad at the moment is the richmond FC ad, "if your not going to show up, why should we"
Could only have been made for Richmond though, quite fitting really....bunch of no good bandwagoners!

I like that Special K ad, the one where the woman kisses the man and says 'you know what day it is', he buys her flowers and asks what day it is, and she says 'Wednesday'. HAHAHAHA love it. :D

I know it's gonna start annoying me soon though.

All of you consider yourselves lucky that you don't have to put up with Britney Spears Pepsi ads.

They made this whole series of stupid retro 50s and 60s and 70s Pepsi ads with her in them and they're all absolute crap, and they show at least 15 of them every single day round the clock.
