I remember James Walker, but cannot recall a notable on field exploit or highlight of his throughout his career (and as a kid watched them play nearly every week by virtue of living over here). So that probably suggests he is a reasonable nomination. But then again, if I can't remember him being actively terrible like say another Docker around that era in Josh Head maybe he doesn't belong here and should be a nomination in the most invisible 150 games thread.

In spite of the Karmichael Hunt nomination I would strongly argue that he looked a lot more at home on an AFL field than many others I've seen.

Garbage, had 1 okay season, every other season ranging from crap to below average.

Averaged 11 disposals and 1.4 goals a game as small forward, to put that into perspective, Jamie Elliott averages 13 and 1.4, he is a genuine good player, Davey was far from being a world beater but to call him a complete spud is utter nonsense.

He didnt average 1.4 goals per game, and if we want to put things into perspective, Alwyn davey played his first afl game slightly younger than Jamie Elliot was when he played his last game. What an lol comparison, Davey was a dud.

My bad, was meant to write 1.2 goals, I wasn't comparing the two, Elliott is a far better player, Davey was not a dud, duds don't play 100 games and kick 120 goals, its pretty simple.

As a Melbourne supporter I've had front row seats to some true mediocrity - I have to say Colin Garland is approaching 150 games and seems to have even less of clue how to play now than when he debuted. So many hesitant, clumsy, error-riddled games from him.

Haven't read the thread, so don't know if already mentioned but:

Back a while St Kilda were trying to make a push into the early days of Friday Night Football.

Rumour has it that Jodhi Arnol, a non-descript ex Tassie big man, was black banned by the Club/AFL from being played on Friday night because his looks and ability were "bad for marketing".

Didn't have a very long AFL career.

Paul Symmons for the Eagles. The patient zero when it came to seagull players hiding out on the wing. I think I never saw him win a hard ball once. He was also quite high in the draft from what I remember and played State of Origin.

Quin the Irishman...the guy that Matty Knights preferred to play in a Final instead of a recognized Ruckman(remember that 100 point loss Bomber fans?:)).

I once saw Quin kick the ball with his knee from a set kick....inside the Dome:)

I was reminded of this memorable Quin effort watching young SOS shank one yesterday:)

It was only 96 points :p

A lot of 'tap ruckmen' would fill this criteria, recruited for their height but have no other skills. Mark Blake played 99 AFL games and even played in a winning premiership side!

In defense of Blake, his hitout figures were actually very good, and he held his own against King and Gardiner in the 2009 Grand Final.

Mark Blake is the ultimate "one trick pony" but he was quite good at that one trick.

Was looking through some old St Kilda games the other day and noticed Beveridge playing, he was absolutely terrible.. trying to take the game on and be a hero and kept getting caught holding the ball or turning it over. Good coach, shit player.

There was a period in the early mid 00s when the Tigers had all these guys running around at the same time getting semi-regular games;

Tivendale (188 games!), Rory Hilton, Ty Zantuck, Aaron Fiora, Mark Chaffey, young David Rodan, Mark Dragicevic (48 games), Biddiscombe (78 games), Ray Hall (99 games).

Not a very inspiring lot. And then their old champions retire, Coughlan gets injured, and they go and draft Richard Tambling.
Ahhh yes good times.
