I always thought Ken McGregor was terrible, and thought he might have struggled to reach the 50 game criteria, however I was surprised to see he played 152 games, so maybe I'm confusing him with another Adelaide player

Maybe Nick Gill? Only played 17 games and kinda looks like McGregor I guess.
But most importantly he was shit, so that would be the biggest indicator that he's who you mean.

Mark Athorn. Soon as I saw him in the team for the 93 grand final I knew the Blues were cooked. Michael Long played on him and won the Norm Smith that day, mercifully ending Athorn's career in the process.
One of my most enduring memories of Whitten Oval is my dad and his friends constantly baffled and frustrated by Athorn leading to some occasional 'helpful advice'.

I'm surprised he managed to play 83 games for four different clubs in total. He was fringe for us when we were terrible.

Not sure if ur being serious but unfair
Has been a learning year this year (trying him in defense/midfield)but was really quite good last year.
Was nominated for NAB rising star...
Will get to 50 games on the back of his fathers legacy and that’s about it.

A couple that I can remember

Paul Chambers - absolutely useless
Ricky Mott - he was loved by the club, but couldn't kick for shit. Missed a match winning set shot after the siren from 15m out, almost put it on the full, despite being directly in front
Tom Derickx - quite what the Swans saw in him, I will never know, even managed to look out of his depth at NEAFL. Seriously, looked like he played the sport with an arm-to-body ratio of a T-Rex. Never seen a player fumble a ball quite as much as him.
Cale Morton - pretty bad in all facets. Quite how he finished in Melbourne's top 10 twice is beyond me. He was an ultra shit version of his brother Mitch, and Mitch wasn't much chop - except in a Grand Final :)

There's a few others that are sort of hanging around the edges of my mind.

Was he the guy that took that absolute hanger in the wet too? Not bad for a single career highlight.

James Meiklejohn, Jarrad Sundqvist, Matthew Spangher, Matthew O'Dwyer, Kristin Thornton, Ed Barlow and, the granddaddy of them all, Ryan Brabazon.

Also, a 1 gamer called Matthew Laidlaw.

Sir Matthew Spanger doesn't belong on this list. Was a hugely important cog in our 2014 premiership side. Played a good game in the granny as well.

Was referring to the Sydney version of Spangher.

Shaun Hampson - so much potential, athleticism and size. Just never put it together. Promised and teased more than a burlesque show.

Managed to rip off Richmond (aka our trade bunnies) though, so it worked out ok in the end.
David Honeybun (?spelling) was another one from the late 1980s

Yeah, have to agree, but he was never recruited for his AFL talent. Even if you listened carefully to Sheedy talking him up at the time he was careful what he said. He took the big bucks in return for a misbegotten plan to get the club publicity among Neanderthal league fans. He wanted out early, which shows integrity, club made him fulfil his contract. Everyone's better off with him at fullback for the Wallabies. He never got the 360 degree awareness thing.

Folau actually had great natural talent. I just think he lacked the love and passion for the game and wasn't prepared to sacrifice to become better.

Kevin Walsh from Essendon, played in the 80's. I was a young kid when I watched him so he may have done a lot of one percenters that I missed! He seemed to have 0% talent. The best thing I remember him doing was a goal assist soccer off the ground in the collingwood blockbuster at VFL Park in 1990, to help the Dons win. He played a lot of games, Sheedy had a hard on for him, for whatever reason. He did get better but doesn't everybody when given umpteenth chances?

Spang's injuries hurt him but as a second tall defender, he was very solid.
