(00 – 09) Davies, Harvey, Laycock, Winderlich, Bradley, Stanton, Monfries, Ryder, Dempsey, Gumbleton, Myers, Hurley & Melksham. Richards, Welsh, Watson, Houli, Hooker, Bellchambers, Zaharakis, Carlisle.
(10 – 19) Heppell, Kavanaugh, Daniher, Langford, Laverde, Parish, Francis & McGrath. Hibberd, Merrett, Fanasia, McKenna, Redman, McDonald-Tipungwuti

Hit with Hurly, Heppell and to some extent with Daniher and Ryder.
Monfries, Stanton and maybe Melksham would be a pass.
Probably still too early to really know about McGrath, Parish and maybe Francis.

The rest is a really really big pile of yuck. No wonder they just traded out of the first round for the last 3 years

Take out the 2000 and 2001 draft and drafting for saints is very very grim.... Left with Goddard & Fisher. Look at the names since 2020.

Didn’t really play midfield. Was a utility and spent time all over the ground.

Definitely cares about his looks a lot but has gotten his chance in AFL through hard work and toughness. Is a battler talent wise.

It’s a subjective list and it’s the worst I’ve seen as per the OP. I haven’t seen many Suns games and the ones I have, Witts must have been particularly poor. I’m not going by stats as that’s not what the OP requested.

I think David Mackay is a decent player and thought Van Berlo was a good player
Worst captain of the 2000s is surely Richie Vandenberg (still a good player, just the worst that has been captain)

I think the criticism of Mackay isn't just that he is a very average player, it is more that he seems to get preferential treatment at selection, which most Crows supporters, myself included, feel is undeserved.

Actually I will throw in a few I played with and against that never really kicked on. Kepler Bradley, Pettigrew, Matthew Spencer. Also how Jacob Surjan managed to carve out 100+ games.

This is actually a shocking take. An average footballer at AFL level maybe but smart and can play multiple roles with a very good left peg. Part of some of the best sides of the modern era.

Cale Morton, Mark Bolton, James Walker and Zac Dawson etc were genuinely crap.

Besides for the sheep following the nuffies, how was Dawson actually crap? Became such a whipping boy, yet the irony is most people barely watched him play. Was actually a pretty damn good defender, got picked in multiple grand finals and Clarkson has publicly spoken highly of him. His kicking was atrocious, but his defending was actually impressive.

sometimes a consistent player is what a club needs, regardless of whether he is consistently good or consistently shit.
He slots in well with a lot of average to decent adelaide players, difference is he was just born before most of them
