You're plenty more tolerant and understanding than I. Then again I don't have kids. Next month I'm moving back to France with a 3 week stop over in Cambodia, Thailand and Laos.... I'm not confident on air travel in that region and would rather bus/train it, but will be flying all around. I'm anticipating adding more than screaming babies to my experiences.

If I suddenly disappear during late feb to 20 march, well.... You just know.

Missing another footy season? That's not ToO good.

My worst flight was one which should have been pretty simple- Melbourne to Adelaide. I occasionally get a pain similar to the ear blockage thing but it is a sharp pain behind my eye. Got this really bad on the descent into Adelaide, (like mentioned above, felt like knife in the eye- certainly the worst pain I have ever experienced, like my eye was about to explode- upon research later it has been compared to pain associated with child birth, and I can believe that!). The poor woman next to me tried to ask what was wrong but I was in too much pain to talk. To make things worse, just as we were about to land, the plane sharply ascended due to fog causing low visibility on the runway, and we had to return to Melbourne- another painful landing followed. Sat on tarmac in Melbourne for about 1.5 hours, then back to Adelaide for a third painful descent. Definitely worst flight ever for me.

Weird. I've been backpacking on and off since the mid-90's and the worst flight I've ever had was a Tiger Air flight from Brisbane to Melbourne a few months back. Flight itself was alright until an hour out of Melbourne. Got a bit choppy but that's okay. Pilots must have been trying to slow down early as the wing flaps and landing gear came down a lot earlier than they normally do. Still hit the runway too fast. Plane pops a bit of a mono on landing then goes a bit sideways. The cabin starts stinking of jet fuel and it's lucky, because the look on the bloke next-door's face suggests he's shit himself.

Overhead lockers came open. Kids were understandably crying all over the shop. But we're on the tarmac and slowing. Yay!

Years ago, I was on an Alitalia flight that also must have come in too fast and popped a mono on landing. That was hard enough for some of the oxygen masks to pop down, but no smell of jet fuel.

That's Tiger for you.

I haven't been but if you're worried about your transport options in Cambodia, bus is probably the most likely to be a problem from everything I've heard. Probably Laos as well. I haven't spent that uch time in Thailand, but all transport seemed safe enough. Thai Airways were great, on a par with Singapore. Internal flights in Cambodia might be a different story.

The road from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap is something to behold. I'd almost consider flying next time. Almost. All part of the experience!

Was flying Darwin to Perth a couple of years ago.

Plane taxis onto runway "Ladies and Gentlemen we've just been informed of a medical issue with one of our passengers and will have to return to the terminal"

Guy gets off (obvious scared of flying)

We had to go through the full safety brief again. Go back out to taxi out....SAME THING HAPPENS AGAIN!!!!

Only 45 mins delayed but definitely frustrating.

Always felt safe flying as far as the aircraft themselves go I've never lost any sleep over turbulence or rough landings. Always felt the airline staff have always tried to the best they can under sometimes trying circumstances I read the fine print on Low Cost Carriers never been caught out or suprised by anything. On the other hand being stuck next to some drunken moron on an 18 hour flight between Sydney and Santiago who spent the entire flight mouthing of about how much he had made on some property deal and trying to get me interested in something else he had planned was an experience I would rather not go though again. Love travel love flying but being cattle class most of the time really need to see more passengers respect others on the flight on occasions.

Mine is flying to Greece with Singapore it wasn't scary but I had to laugh that half the passengers on the plane clapped when we landed I thought what did they think we were gonna crash

They're SLOWLY paving it all the way through. I was encouraged to see their road workers are just like our road workers - one digs a hole and the other five stand around it looking impressed.

Well as of September 2014 it was bad enough to shatter the UV lens of my DSLR camera. Couldn't believe it given the amount of padding in the camera bag which was strapped around me on a sash strap.

Anyway, back to the planes!

No. Wasn't worth claiming. Should have made it clear it was UV lens cover thing, not an expensive lens. That said, a pain in the arse!
