Was last night Richmond's worst ever loss since joining the competition in 1908? Obviously, none of us were alive to witness the majority of Richmond's history but losing like that last night makes me beg the question; was this the worst loss in the club's 104 year old history? My answer, is yes. And given the circumstances, quite easily yes. We have had bad losses in our time, but this was the worst and most humiliating. If you can think of a worse loss than last night, please hit me up because I can't think of anything that comes close.

If you think that is the worst loss, then you are either very young or you haven't watched many games from the late 80s and early 90s.

How about "we hit you up" with some reality.

Err how about when they beat us there last year when we had amuch better team in?????

C'mon really, this is an over reaction. Yes we should have won but GC form over the last few weeks was only slightly worse than ours.

You haven't supported the club long have you?

How about the Geelong game from 2006 where we lost by 157 points. That game we didn't even compete, witches hats provided Geelong with more of an obstacle during training that the Richmond Football Club did during that disgusting day.

As awful as yesterday was, i kinda knew it was going to happen. 8 of best 22 out, 3 get injured and a perfectly fit player subbed. We were the walking wounded. Gold Coast pushed the Premiers the week before and we full of confidence. We spent out all our efforts with a 54 point turnaround and then we completely stopped. Which is pathetic, of course.

Rd1 2009 still hangs fresh in the memory, probably never felt worse after that one. Though i'm only 17 and haven't even seen us in a final:p

2007, Round 6. :(

I cant believe a 'supporter' has started a competition amongst for Richmonds worst losses.

We should, in the words of our senior coach, be moving forward. And I cant believe how many have bought into it. Good grief.

Here are the worst I can remember:
  • The loss in the '82 GF
  • The day in the 90's when Dunstall kicked 17 goals.
  • The day Ablett Snr kicked 14 goals
  • Geelong in 2007 by 157 pts
  • There as a day in the mid '80's where Tigers lead Pies by 34 points into time on in the 3rd qtr. Tigers ended up losing the game as the Pies stormed home and the Tigers stopped to a crawl.
  • The loss to GC last year.
  • Sat. loss to GC

The best win I can remember were all the ones in 1980, the 1995 semi final against Ess., and the 2001 finals win against the Blues.

  • That day the Crows murdered us at Footy park, thought the game was finished but it was 3/4 time and had another quarter of horror to go through ..... although we did give Walls got the sack after that LOL
  • The day I watched the swans flog us in the late 80's by 100 points at the SCG and they almost kicked 200 points.

The 157 point loss to Geelong in Round 6, 2007 was worst.
Richmond V Carlton in Round 15, 2011, Carlton were up around 120 points up early in the last quarter.
Round 9, 1989 - Richmond 77 V Geelong 211 with G.Ablett kicking 14 goals.

Our worst lost in history would probably have to be this: Round 16, 1961 - Richmond 0.8 (8) defeated by St Kilda 12.19 (91). 5 St Kilda players outscored our whole team that day.

The lost against Gold Coast wasn't even that bad. Gold Coast challenged the reigning premiers Geelong last week, and were close to beating them near the end. We outscored Gold Coast by 22 points in the 2nd Half.

The worst (feeling) for me was the 1982 Grand Final. I know its not where OP is going but there was no tommorrow after the GF. All hopes over in two hours. No coming back next week.

We had that game won before that streaker and we destroyed them in the Qualifying final.

Had a sick feeling in my gut. Maybe it was a premonition.

If you mean worst in regards to performance, you could point a stick at any games in the eighties. The idignity of Brereton killing us while wearing a back brace, the 100 point losses. The loss to the Swans in the last quarter that had Jewell pulling his hair out and that North Melbourne night match.

Ive seen all the bad times from the 80's and 90's and the op isn't far off... I think the bad thing about this one is being 10 up with 40 secs to go and having the ball in possession. How in gods name u can lose from that position is beyond me... So worst loss ever... Yeah it's right up there no doubt.

Well what can l say that has not allready been said; I am so GUTTED, l threw a fit at home like you wouldn't believe.
So much PAIN they continue to give us Richmond supporters. i went to my room and went to bed not long after. Then all we hear is Martin & Connors, what about that Prxxx Jackson, he has cost us atleast 5-6 games with his reports over the last 3-4 seasons?

worst one for me was the day against the Bombers (97-98??) we kicked only three goals for the whole game.

I was there with my bomber mates, so that only added to the happy happy joy joy

The 157 point Geelong game was a shocker, but funnily enough was nowhere near the worst for me. Losing by 100 points at half time meant we felt free to leave (yep, our rule is if you're down by 100 you can show your disgust and **** off out of there) and went to the pub to watch, downing a steady stream of numb juice. By that stage it was all academic so we got to the joking stage and just appreciated the Geelong team doing their thing.

So while this was a very embarrassing loss, and gut wrenching because we were 2 goals up with 30 seconds to go,it's not even close to the worst.

I was at the Geelong game and it was so bad I just started laughing.
Nothing as bad as the Gold Coast loss or the 1982 GF loss.

Losing that game on the back of 52k members, and all that promise.

It really hurt.
I usually get over losses pretty quickly.
Still haven't gotten over Saturday Night's loss.
I can see where the OP is coming from.

We've all seen loss after loss but this one felt different.
Well a bit like 1982 all over again.

I'd say it would be top 5.

Here are my reasons
- lost to a team that has lost 15 on the trot, not to mention last year.
- clawed back into the game and then took control
- allowed 3 goals in the 2 minutes or something pathetic
- abysmal coaching in the last few minutes, 5th tier midfield in for one of the most crucial centre bounces of the year
- extinguished finals hopes after looking to break the 11 year drought
- its the ****ing gold coast
