Some of you guys are really taking this loss to heart, especially one poster in particular. Yeah it sucks but we're a young developing side, where the majority of players are from the last 4 drafts. They're going to have inconsistant form, obviously.

Seriously guys, get some bloody perspective. Yeah it sucks but most of you complaining are the ones who want the kids to be played all the time. Now that they are being played and we're losing, you're complaining?

Some supporters just give me the shits.

There just showing so little its deflating IMO.

Yet during our wins and our close losses, eberyone was singing their praises about how much they're showing? What if we get up next week? Everyone will forget this game for sure.

Not me. Apart from the KPPs we have who have done well so far, the rest have struggled. The likes of Masten Ebert Rosa Butler need to work harder especially the first 2. Both really arnt showing anything.

Masten has no ticker whatsoever. His attitude is border line disgraceful. Smells like Mitch Morton to me. Ebert doesnt seem to realise that he isnt playing school footy anymore. Both are coasting atm and have gone backwards MASSIVELY from last year. Send them to the WAFL for the year so they realise that just cos ur a first round draft pick doesnt make ya a football superstar. If it was up to me neither would play AFL footy till they pull down 3 30 possie games in a row at WAFL level. Tim Houlihan does it.....

Yet last week everyone was saying how good Masten was

And then tonight he did less running than I did to get to the game in time. He should be doing alot bettter than he is cos the talent is there. The application isnt. Ebert and Masten dont run hard enough. That simple.

Masten wasn't terrible tonight. For the most part what he did he did well.

Problem was he didn't do it often enough. Hopefully, in time he can bring more consistency to his game and consequently have more of an impact

I'm really surprised that Tim Houlihan hasn't got a game in the last few weeks. What does he need to do to break into the team?

I KNOW!

He's obviously shagging someone he shouldn't - or not shagging her/him enough.

Should take Rosa's place ASAP.

And Keyser, I think it's got alot to do with his confidence.

Why is there another thread on our junior players when it was the D-Line midfielders who where fringe during our premiership years at fault, Rosa, Priddis and Butler. Simply for the reason Masten and Ebert can use the ball, spot up targets and hit them.

Cockie, Kerr and Priddis where in the middle most of the time, Rosa, Butler, Ebert and Butler all played similar roles. Masten was the best of those four followed by Ebert.

its because we played against our advisaries collingwood

i am against everything collingwood stands for, they seem to have the afl on its leash getting favourable draws, even right through to their pretentious logo (which has the australian flag on it) - and for what?

there is nothing more dissatisfying than seeing us let collingwood walk all over us, especially at home

I thought Masten and Scott Selwood were decent tonight. Considering how bad the team was on a whole, I think they performed relatively well.

I'm not sold on Cockie yet. Do we need another Priddis? I'd prefer to have a Masten or Ryan Davis in the middle over Cockie.

As stated in AFL.COM

"We've got (Ash) Hansen, (Adam) Hunter, (Tyson) Stenglein and (Chad) Fletcher that we could easily bring straight back in, but we're prepared to give some of these kids the opportunity to learn.

"As long as the young players do what we ask and are really giving it everything.

"If they look like they lose confidence, then there's no use keeping them out there. But while they're having a real crack at it, we're prepared that they will make mistakes and we understand that."

As Woosha stated he can keep playing the kids or he bring back the older guys.We are going to be inconsistent with alot of kids playing.Overall this year we have been pretty good.No game is a given win as mentioned before.

There is nothing like bringing in youth. It brings enthusiasm and the desire to perform. Dead wood hangs around and does only what it needs to do to get another game. That can be seen with so many of our guys. Some of those players know that the selection commitee (f-ing bananas they seem to be) wont drop them so they know they are safe from being dropped.
WC - condone poor disposal/decision making
WC - condone lack of, or complete f-ing absence of aggression
WC - condone blokes who dont back up each other in play or melees
WC - condone softness
WC - condone lack of intenisty and desperation for the ball

On a more crazy (desperate) note :
Maybe we need to break with tradition and play an entire side (experianced or not) that has disposal qualities one week, then play another side (only made up of athletes and ball winners) and see what happens. If that takes 10 changes so be it.

Collingwood are an average side with several of their most damaging players out and didn't play that well, yet never looked like losing. That says a LOT about our performance.

(Some of the) Disappointing aspects:

  • Davis moved loose a kick behind the play and it took a good 30-40 minutes of him dominating before a move was made to try and quell his influence.
  • Cox and Seaby on the ground at once with Lynch playing in the ruck - I don't even know why that was trialled.
  • Our "zone" is rubbish and our defensive intensity is zero. Collingwood moved the ball freely from defence right up to their forward 50 time and again. The only reason they didn't expose us more is that Anthony is currently their only good leading forward in the side.
  • We moved the ball slowly allowing Collingwood greater opporunities to man up (something we don't seem interested in doing), and our kicking skills were horrid. Even when we had the ball and had time, we made poor decisions and turned the ball over. We don't use early leads to space often enough, though given how many times we kicked over the head of leading players in space maybe that's a good thing.
  • We got pantsed at the centre bounces by a team with 2 mediocre ruckmen and a mediocre on-ball brigade.
Positive aspects:

  • Kennedy is good.

This performance won't be improved by dropping 3 or 4 players, as the majority of our side were well below par. If we just start playing some high intensity pressure football again we'll look a hell of a lot better and our confidence will grow and in turn lift our skills. We'll probably tire and won't be able to keep it up for 4 quarters, and I can accept that from a young side. I can't accept limp performances like last night's, young side or otherwise.

i'm just as disappointed, and mystified, by the eagles up-down performance..but having browsed thru the current threads and comments - there are so many opinions on who should be dropped- if you dropped all those mentioned, i think youd only have natanui, swift, shuey, and 2 kpp left..hardly a winning team?
theres even a drop Lynch thread?

I dunno his disposal by foot is not too flash, just tends to pump the ball long into the mixer. But geez his handball skills are unbelievably good. If he can learn to play like Daniel Cross, he'd become a valuable player. If/when it gets to the stage the ball is in his hands 20+ times a game, dishing off handballs we'll be a much better side. Plus gotta love that constant chasing, even right til the very end he dumped O'Brien on the floor and they both got stuck into each other. Twas about the only good to watch :)
