Was at the game today, north looked awsome today, on todays performance they would have one da flag, aubanvale didn't look right today, were second to the ball, not hard and didnt chase. Luckily for them they have next week. Big game tomorow, i think Parkside will have to play there best to have a sniff against heights. Will be very intersting to see if the parkers can stop Malia, Greto and Mickaladies.
All will be known tomorrow. Good uck to both teams.

PS: Where are ya TD, has anyone seen or heard TD after a loss.

i just love reading your posts tats.......just like last week u watched today and im glad u payed $10 bucks to watch me play.......still cant spell yes im fat and yes u need to go back to school for english lessons u box hill......

keep umpiring sh1tman:thumbsu:

devils for flag 08

Heights by 5 or 6 goals over Parkside. Inaccurate kicking from Heights, but Tyrell from Parkside had a simple shot early in the last quarter to reduce the margin to about a goal. He missed and then Heights ran away with it.

Cobras V Dragons in the preliminary final at Altona. I think on Saturday.

Not sure how the reserves went.

Watched the game yesterday and believe me today's 2nd's game between Colt's and Sunshine had more skill and flow on,not bagging but can't believe how a side coming up these day's will be able to stay up,the jump in standard is to big.

There is only one way a club can compete in Div 1 dude and that is with a young list, great youth coming through the club and being able to retain them and then keep the top teir players aswell when they DO come up.. Not to mention that little thing that div 1 clubs have that div 2 clubs struggle with... whats it called again... oh yeah MONEY !!! how can you compare the likes of the top 5 even 6 in div 1 that would spend big bucks on their players compared to the top 3 in Div 2.. you cant.. That is where clubs have to recruit and work to model to keep the club in Div 1 over a 5 - 10 year period.. and if you honestly think colts or sunshines 2s could beat the top 3 in div 2 then your dreaming.

This arguement comes up time and time again.. having played in yesterdays game i will openly say that it was definatley NOT the most skillfull game that I have ever played in nor was it even close.. but there are a lot of people in Div 1 that think that Div 2 is rubbish.. Parkside found out the hard way this year and i gaurentee that there will be more clubs in the future that will go through this!

It wasnt that long ago in History that the likes of Parkside - Deer Park - Braybrook even North Footscray were succesfull clubs in Division 1.. presidents, sponsors and players come and go and as powerfull as spotswood - Port colts - albion etc might be right now it may be a different story in 10 years time... :thumbsu: Think about your post before you write it.. and if your going to bag Div 2 dont even bother coming on this thread becuase we all work hard on our respective clubs. :D

I did think about what i said and wasn't bagging as i quoted or did you not read that,i hope North win it and yes you do need money to be successful but look at West up and back down and the word was they had coin to find player's but couldn't attract them to a club that was going to get flogged every week.

My point is stay down like Altona did and don't come up until you are happy with a playing list that will at least be strong enough to get you thru the first couple of year's and then build on that.

Agree with this to some degree however you have to take into account a few things when making the comment.
1: The conditions at Altona were not conducive to a good watching game of footy.
2: The reserves game today was a corker, nice and close, the senior game yesterday at Altona was extremely lop sided.

IF north win it, i would assume they would not think twice about going up. Important for them to keep their list together. They have a good blend of young and old which is important when heading up into Div 1.

I do see your point.. and travvy's comments are spot on.:thumbsu::thumbsu: Lets talk about west for a second.. they may of had coin but really apart from Hardaway who went there? and Hardaway was a Div 2 player.. the presidents son even played elsewhere.... what kinda message does that send to the club ? Not bagging West... full credit to them going up and giving it a crack but they lost a huge amount of premiership players.. Are they coming down or will it be Yarraville ?

The conditions were shocking yesterday and the game was not a close one.. but i can tell you this.. North have already signed the entire senior group from this year with 10 or so other players from the 2's and the some more of the boys from the 18s.. The culture at North is awesome and everyone enjoys being down there and this will continue to grow and bring more and more people down the club!

Given the opportunity if we are lucky enough to win the flag this year ... and we do have some very good competition in Heights and Albanvale so it will be a good fight whoever it is.. but IF we do.. North will DEFTINATLY be going up to Div 1 and having a crack it at!

Your excitment from yesterdays great win is obviously still with you mint!

You have raised some interesting points, some accurate others not.

Both West Footscray and Yarraville are way below par in regards to being competitive in div 1, due to reasons best known too themselves. I dare say they would struggle to even play finals in your division.

Not sure how Heights would go but i'm sure even with your current list North would have been more competitive than the above.

Your correct in saying that the footy wheels turns and the clubs you mentioned were all successful Div 1 clubs at one time or another. You cant compare how they are now to what they were then, Parkside being the most recent side to drop down were a very good team for a long period of time.

As for today's reserves sides and how would they go against the top three in your comp. Sushine reserves played albanvale seniors in a practice match and won quite easily. Sunshines team today was a much better side today than it was then. Only time will tell how good or bad North will be but I would have to say that they seem to be doing more things right than wrong at this point in time.

good to hear man, i would hate to think a club who wins the flag will stay down.. i know i would be dirty if we were to win the flag and stay down, my goal playing senior football has always been to one day play div1 football, and i rekon half the guys who play div2 will feel the same way..

bye the way mint good win yesterday mate u boys really played great footy and we played some shocking football..
hopfully we get another crack at ur mob..

Thanks mate. I would like to think we are taking the right steps if we dont get there this year then so be it but we have formed the base for next year no matter where we play!

Dont get me wrong there are some excellent players in the 2s in Div 1.. these teams that are in the top tier in Div 1 would not be successful if it wasnt for the depth that they have and the ones pushing for senior spots would ALL play senior footy in Div 2 you would think!

Hey Mint - how is your head after Hendo (7) clocked you in front of the clubrooms. LOL. Can't believe he got away with it!

Big fan of Hendo though and thought he tried hard yesterday.

Spatisalano (not idea how to spell his surname) V Eldridge had a great duel on the wing in the first 3 quarters. Spats. probably had more touches, but Eldridge more effective.

Andre Lakkis had a few interesting scuffles with Karim13.

Going to be interesting night at selection for the GF. Devils had 5 of their best out yesterday.

i watched alb/spotty game.......whilst conditions wernt good for footy....30 goal better sides than nth........and all your young blokes would get smashed by the bigger bodied type players in div 1....

interesting hearing 1 on your players say to me that if nth go up.......he wont be playing div 1.......

any way your 1/2 a chance at the moment and surely fav's for the flag.....

all the best....:thumbsu:

haha flying elbow i like that.. it was more like i had to jump to bump him cause i am only 3 foot 2.. and as he came around i got him a little high.. all good tho.. tell hendo if he wants his fist back i still have it in the side of my head! haha

Weapons as i mentioned the entire senior playing group have signed for next year which is a testiment to the club itself.. that is all i know on the subject....

I am thinking more to the point when you wrote that you had that big grin on your face and thought you would try and stir the pot a little bit!!

As for Albion being a 30 goal better side well i dont know i have never seen them play but you cant compare div 1 top teams and div 2.. but what you said is spot on.. they phsyical size of the guys in that top tier is a whole lot different to our young side but in a couple of years our boys will fill out and get there too ! :thumbsu::thumbsu:

I thought YS were getting relegated? West is a rabble administratively. No soul in the joint.

Plenty of coin though. Have heard that Hardaway is on 600 clams a game.
Win your flag and then bag us us Devil.....

Just because West don't suck up to the WRFL doesn't make them bad administrativley ( i used your spelling on that last word)....

No-one's on over 400 at West....

I think that the performance of west this season has created a perception that the Div 2 top teams are worse than they actually are. The thing is the team that west sent on to the field in round one only contained 2 ( i stand to be corrected may have been 3) players that played in the flag of 07.

If the actual premeirship team were all fit and available in round one with 3 or 4 recruits as well west would have been arount the Glenorden and Altona mark at least.

I wasn't taking offense at how bad we went this year, it was the no soul in the joint comment.
Obviously North have a lot of soul there, too bad for most of them it comes after the letters AR......

Fair enough. The no soul in the joint comment was harsh, as I am looking in from the outside.

I could have worded it better, but I guess what I was alluding to was you pretty much lost your whole team after winning a flag. Isn't exactly a glowing endorsement on how the club is being run. I do know there a lot of good people behind the scenes at West though, just not sure about the commitment of the playing group over the past couple of years.

There's a lot of kids in their 1st year running around against these tops sides all doing there best against massive odds and good on them.

If blokes didn't want to stay after last year bad luck we were probably better off in the end. If you win this year you'd want to keep most of your players, it's a massive step up.

Give us a spell Weapons. 30 goals. 50 goals. Who cares? Easy to say that but what is your solution?

I guess the main aim is to try and bring your playing group up with you and the top up with recruits the best way you can. It will be very difficult for one of the three teams left, but I see it a bit like the English Premier League. You try and prepare the best you can for Div.1, then when you get there you try and survive for the first couple of years. After that with a bit of luck and good management, slowly recruit better players though working hard on sponsorship, junior development and generating revenue by other means.

Of course the only exception is if you have rich benefactor, where you can then accelerate your growth.

Yeah I agree. Most will be sticking around if we are lucky to win it. There is always some turnover though.

so the big quesston boys. who will win this wk between hights and albanvale? will albanvale bounce back after last week or did north expose them to the hights coaching staff and better them for this next match
