You didn't answer your own question, why do you think the 360 is better than the PS3.

For mine I choose the PS3, it is currently on par with the 360 for graphics and will only get better, it has alot more features such as Blu-Ray, Free Customizable Themes, Free Online Gaming, Higher Disc Capacity(Meaning more can be fit on the one gaming disc), it also has the new DuelShock 3 controller which allows for motion sensor gaming and includes rumble, while it doesn't have as big of a library of games, the fact is that nobody really needs to have that many games anyway, although it does have some awesome Exclusive games like the Critically acclaimed Uncharted, also Resistance, Motorstorm and Warhawk are just some of the best of that list, other great games available are COD4, NBA 2K8, Kane & Lynch and many others too.

360, cheaper to buy, cheaper and better games. ALOT better games. Better online, arcade titles.

Most of the PS3's good games are on 360. Bigger and better online community. One intergrated friends list

Of course online will be better if you have to pay $100 a year to use it, not only do you need to already pay for an internet connection but you have to pay to play online.

Anyone would rather free and competent online to $100 and good online.

Not to mention that you also need to pay either for a Plug and Play kit for a 360 controller and if you don't pay for that kit then you will always need to replace the batteries used to power the controller.

As for the Amount of games the 360 has it doesn't mean anything, nobody is going to buy every single game and there are a good amount of great games to tide people over on both consoles.

100 a year?

I got a 12 + 1 card (13 months) for 68 from JB a few months ago.

I can afford 17 cents a day, dont know about you :)

I agree with pretty much what everyone else pro 360 has said.

It has so many more games available than the PS3, and the 360 exclusives like, Mass effect, Bioshock, Halo 3 etc etc are far more tasty than the very few decent ps3 exclusives. Most decent games on the PS3 are also available on the 360, and in many cases look and play better on the 360, usually due to the fact most games available on both are made for the 360, then adapted, often poorly, for the ps3. The online games also have a far bigger online communities, not surprising given that there is 250% more 360's out there than PS3's.

The 360 also has a far better and user friendly dashboard than the 360, and a fantastic and extremely extensive online community in Xbox Live. It has also recently received Divx support, so you can play .avi files on your 360, a bonus if you're a downloader. The ps3 is yet to get divx support.

The ps3 is a very powerful piece of hardware. Problem is it takes a lot of time and money to develop games to utilise it. As a result games are often delayed, and rarely take advantage of its power. This will hopefully change in the future as developers get a handle on it, but who knows. Its a lot of money to spend on a system that "may" be good in the future.

The one major drawback of the 360 has been a few hardware issues. These are well documented. However, Microsoft have increased the warranty to an unprecedented 3 years in order to get back buyer confidence, as well as improved the reliability of the console to the point where failure rates are no where near what they were. Buying a new console i wouldn't even bother to think about it as a problem.

In short, if i was new to the market, the 360 is the console for now. The ps3 may be the console for the future but who knows? At the moment its a Blu ray player that you can play the odd game on.

12 months is 79 bucks, less if you get it on sale which isn't hard usually. I guess i'm not anyone, because i'd rather pay what amounts to bugger all, ($1.50 a week), for an online package which is so far superior to the ps3 one its not funny.

Plug and plays are 20 bucks, not a massive outlay in anyones language. Strange to argue about pricing when you consider how much a ps3 costs to purchase in the first place. You could buy several plug and plays, and pay for xbl for a long time with the money you'd save buying a 360 over a ps3.

And its not just the amount of games, its the amount of decent games. I for one like to play a game for 2-3weeks then generally trade it on a new one. Pretty hard to do that on ps3 and get a decent game each time....

There is nothing wrong with the PS3 online package, first it is free to download HD trailers, demos, themes, wallpapers, how much of this is free on XBL?

What really makes XBL so much better than the PS3 online?

The PS3 is currently retailing for $687, not much more than an Elite 360, there are even deals in which if you trade a PS2 and games you can get it for $299, not very expensive.

Well obviously you aren't playing good games if you are trading them after 2-3 weeks, any good game you can clock up many hours in the main single player mode and then even more with online, at the moment with the 4 games I have I have played Resistance since I got my console, almost 9 months ago and I am still playing it, this is a game that is fully utilising the power of the PS3, it has not one feature missing from it and the developers listen to the people playing and with a new map pack up for download it just adds more hours to this awesomely fun game, I have Warhawk which I bought for $50 a few months ago and have clocked up 26 hours on it, I have COD 4 which I am loving at the moment clocking about 15 hours already, I also have skate and NBA 2K8 which I love to play both online and career modes.

There are many other games and accessories available that I want, there is the new Eye Toy(PS Eye) which has some wickedly cool looking features and some beautiful graphics, Uncharted has just come out and so far you will not find a bad review on it, it is an exclusive to PS3, another exclusive Haze which was made by some of the people who worked on the classic Goldeneye, not only that but Unreal Tournament III is coming out very soon which will utilise the gaming engine "Unreal Engine" and is looking like another awesome UT game.

Things are looking bright!;):thumbsu:

All that stuff is free actually. XBL has shitloads more content, arcade games, lag free games, larger online community, more live enabled games, one friends list and demos for nearly every game available

Yeah 687 40 GB Ps3 with no backwards compatibility costs more then a 120 GB 360 with full features. You can only compare the 40GB ps3 to 360 Arcade pack which i have seen for $349

The fact you have played resistance (an average game according to most reviews) for 9 months shows the absolute lack of quality games on Ps3.

Warhawk is alright and the rest of the games you can get on 360 (cheaper too).

Eye toy same old stuff, both those games coming on 360.

"Things are looking bright!"
If only i had a dollar for every time i heard a Richmond supporter say that;)

And also PS3 has the lowest games attatchment rate of games per console. A fair portion of your sales have come from people wanting a cheap Bluray player

All of it. You only pay to play online. You get all the stuff you mentioned, except for some themes, as part of the free, silver xbl subscription.

Bit dodgy comparing the lowest spec ps3 to the elite, which is the highest in the 360 range. Most people buy the premium which is mid 500's. The core is even cheaper

No not really, your completely wrong. I just game a lot, and only buy the best of the best games. If it scores under an 8.5 generally i won't bother. I might hire lesser games if they look interesting.

Look at Mass effect which i've had for 2 weeks. Played through it once which took 50 hours. Playing it again now and about 10 hours in. After i finish it this time i'll trade it. Same with bioshock, its a single player game which you could play through twice quite happily, at say 20 hours each. i doubt i could be bothered doing it 3 times. If a game doesn't have an online component, l I just prefer to smash it hard, then trade it while it still has value, rather than let it gather dust.

Most games with a great online component, like halo 3, i'll never trade. God knows how many hours i've got on that but it'd be enormous. Same with gears of war.

There's 4 massive games you'll never be able to play on ps3;) Most of the other games you've mentioned i enjoy too on my 360.

All that stuff is free actually. XBL has shitloads more content, arcade games, lag free games, larger online community, more live enabled games, one friends list and demos for nearly every game available
I thought that themes and wallpapers cost money?

Every game on the PS3 online network is lag free, I don't understand why this is a supposed feature of the XBL network?

One Friends List, what exactly does this mean, PSN has one friends list, it also has on certain games you own friends list available in a game, what is this feature like on XBL?

Yeah 687 40 GB Ps3 with no backwards compatibility costs more then a 120 GB 360 with full features. You can only compare the 40GB ps3 to 360 Arcade pack which i have seen for $349
Fact is that the PS3 Hard Drive is much easier to upgrade than the 360, so comparing the 40GB PS3 with a 360 with only 20GB is way off track, backwards compatibility means nothing, why would you buy a PS3 if you wanted to play PS2 games? The reason for getting a PS3 is to play games that are next-gen, not old games that are worse in graphics, size and gameplay, any game released on the PS2 that has a next-gen version will be far worse than the next-gen version, just look at any NBA or Soccer game

The fact you have played resistance (an average game according to most reviews) for 9 months shows the absolute lack of quality games on Ps3.
Reviews only focus on the campaign/story mode of the game, it doesn't focus on the best part, that of online, some of the best weapons every created, huge amount of maps and land in those maps, the most comprehensive list of features available on any game anywhere in the world, ability to have 40 players play 1 game with 100% no lag, how many 360 games can do that?

Warhawk is alright and the rest of the games you can get on 360 (cheaper too).
Warhawk is awesome, the best flight simulation game, not only that but you can go on ground and in vehicles too, and once again there will be a new Map Pack coming out this month with a new featured Vehicle/Plane the Dropship.

I don't know how much the games are for the 360 but I got NBA 2K8 for $94, and every other game for that matter has cost me less than $100, how much do most new games retail for on the 360?

Not only that I could potentially get games from overseas because of the PS3 being region free, the games currently sell online for around $30-$40 cheaper than the Australian couterparts.

Eye toy same old stuff, both those games coming on 360.
The PS Eye is far from the same old stuff, this model will support 4 times the pixel resolution of the Eye Toy, it features a mic which you can use for gaming, it can also be used as a PS Webcam, for more features look here:

I thought that themes and wallpapers cost money?
Some themes, cost like 3 bucks. But frankly who cares, if you don't want them, don't buy them. You only see them for about 5 seconds before you boot up your game. You can actually create your own wallpapers for free on the 360 so thats a mute point.

Fact is that the PS3 Hard Drive is much easier to upgrade than the 360, so comparing the 40GB PS3 with a 360 with only 20GB is way off track.

You were still comparing the lowest spec ps3 to the highest spec 360, its hardly a fair comparison, and in any event, the 360 is still cheaper

I don't know how much the games are for the 360 but I got NBA 2K8 for $94, and every other game for that matter has cost me less than $100, how much do most new games retail for on the 360?

Games generally cost 10-20 bucks more on the ps3. COD4 for example is 99 on xbox and 119 on ps3.

I'd be defending my ps3 too if i'd shelled that much out on it.

Thing is that every single theme available on the PS3 is free, even the official ones brought out by Playstation are free, there are even cool features like sound effects that can be added to them.

Once HOME comes in for the PS3 the whole world of online will sway heavily towards PS3.

You were still comparing the lowest spec ps3 to the highest spec 360, its hardly a fair comparison, and in any event, the 360 is still cheaper
There is currently only one PS3 on the market in Australia, so therefore(Technically) it is the Highest and Lowest spec PS3 available.

Games generally cost 10-20 bucks more on the ps3. COD4 for example is 99 on xbox and 119 on ps3.

I'd be defending my ps3 too if i'd shelled that much out on it.
I only paid $99 for COD 4, the day it came out too, with no trade in.

I have the receipt to prove it too.:D

And like you compared with the XBL membership if I did buy Resistance for $120(Which I only bought for $89)that equals a total of about 50c per day to play it.

There's little difference really.

360 has a much better range of games at this stage, so that alone probably puts it ahead.

360 controllers are gay though.

The blueray / HD DVD battle is really hurting the PS3 IMO. Unlike the PS2's timely release as a DVD player, the 'High Definition' generation is a split market with many movie studios producing exclusives for one format but not the other. My old man tried to buy an HD DVD Player that had a hard-drive and was multi-regioned. - Doesn't exist... He concluded it was the wrong time to go HD and I agree. Funnily enough, up-scaled DVDs seem to be all the rage in this country ahead of true HD. Not only that, Blue-rays / HD DVDs cost twice the amount of regular DVDs, and require a long list of hi-fi equipment to get the most out of: HDMI, 1080p, Dolby 5.1. - HDMI cables actually cost $100! A massive rip-off!

The market's just not ready for Blue-ray, and I think it's been somewhat of a deterrent for console buyers. Unfortunately, you can't buy a PS3 that doesn't include a Blue-Ray player. - It is a mandatory investment. The only package Sony have come up with is a PS3 with a smaller hard-drive and no playback feature for PS2 games. - Something that gamers might actually value more than a Blue-Ray player.

It's a been a case of poor marketing due to poor research IMO.

This post has pretty much summed up why i like the PS3 more than the xbox.
I have played the xbox360 around a mates house & while i enjoyed Halo 3 & a few other games it all comes down to blu ray vs hd dvd debate for me. For me the PS3 is a cheap blu ray player which is one of the main reasons i got one. Also the fact that games like final fantasy, grand theft auto etc will be multi platform formats swayed me towards the PS3. Although the online capabilities on xbox is far better at the moment than Sony.
