Whats the contractual situation with the X-man. Apparently was offerd up for trade and was uncontracted around that stage. Has he been re-signed......

Last I heard he was still un-signed and no one had heard official word from the club. I assume it's just some sort of contractual disputes though.

Last I heard the details were done, it was just a case of X putting pen to paper after he returns from holidays.

I didn't hear he'd been shopped around in trade week. What's your source for that?

I think Port enquired rather than X being shopped. But the clubs go through just about everyone with talent on each other's list - I suppose you could call it window shopping.

Little chance of X leaving for mine (unless a first rounder was put on the table).

we would be lucky to get a second round for X, and if we did id jump all over that. he has done nothing and showed no sign of changing that. he isnt in our best 22, and i would have much preferred a 2nd round pick, adding another young talent to our list.

At the risk of boring some people :

Xavier Clarke has played 105 games for the club over 7 seasons - an average of 15 games per season.

Whilst he only averages 12 possessions a game, he does not waste it and his stats often end up in a score assist. He averages over 2 tackles per game.

In 8 games this year he averaged 13 possessions, 4 tackles, and 13 goals or goal assists.

When fit, he is easily in our best 22. The Saints have erred many times with him in the past - as they have with Luke Ball, Michael Gardiner, and Matt Maguire.

Hopefully he will have a full pre-season and rebuff the doubters.

Precisely, Squizz. The fact is, you can tell how good Xavier actually is by the fact that he has been played when FAR, FAR, FAR from full health. Take the Geelong Final game this year - there is no WAY that he should have been out there, he was nowhere NEAR ready. But Lyon knows that Xavier is so darn good, even him walking on one leg is worth the risk.

Top player. When we stop trying to get him to play at 50% all the time, then we'll be doing well.

mr x - made of glass. he will never play a full season until he puts on some weight.

What Squizzy and PS said..

the problem is that X tries to play above his weight... he needs to be injury free and use his speed.. not his body...

Yeah the writing is on the wall a bit (was last year but I tihnk he may have gotten a reprieve given the bad situation re his father). Fair enough too.

Best of luck to him for next year, could really be another key. Just need everything to gel.

Agree tho he does need a little extra weight!

X is a front runner.
He is great when we are 4 or 5 goal up but he does very little when we need him when we are down.
The fact that he is extremely fragile and soft, can't see him ever reaching his potential that he came in with.

signing on for 12 months at his age has got trade or delisting at the end of 09 written all over it.

would appear that maybe get traded to the gold coast in 2010 for a draft pick.

unless he begins to play well again.

Signing a one year contract always makes sense for the club. It is the player's that want longer.
X would not have had much to bargain with based on his recent performance, and the club may not have been bluffing if they said it was a year or nothing. Is it co-incidence that they waited until X signed to de-list Fiora.
