Xbox or PS3?

Hi guys I'm looking to buy either a PS3 or an Xbox but I don't know which is better. What are the advantages and disadvantages of both?

Most of the "big" games are available on both platforms and both do certain things better than the other. Personal choice really. Anyone that says one is better that the other is kidding themselves these days tbh

Most of the guys on this forum have the PS3 if your looking to party up with some of us. I have both so the choice was never which one but if i had to recommend 1 it would be the PS3 for the fact it offers more exclusives in a variety of genres and the online multiplayer is free. Being a Blu ray player too is a nice added bonus.

Its a matter of opinion though, see what games appeal to you, look at whats coming out for both consoles, what your mates play on and then decide.

if I was getting into console gaming today I would buy a PS3. There's a lot more parity between multiplatform games these days plus more exclusive games (whether you like them or not is another thing). Free online plus built in blu ray player make it the better choice over Xbox.

The free online appeals to me though because I'm to cheap to buy Xbox live.

Get whatever one your mates have. You can get Xbox Live Gold for much cheaper than advertised as well.

Well in this case get an Xbox then. Better off playing sports games with your buddies then randoms trust me

Yep what he said. Shooters you can get away with playing randoms, sports games are full of glitchers and people that quit 5 min from the end of a game when they're losing.

So basically a dollar a week. Not exactly break the bank stuff, and your money does seem to buy a more reliable service than the free PSN.

There's many factors to this question.

- What your friends have
- What the people on BigFooty have (PS3 is the popular console IIRC)
- Which consoles exclusives do you like better?
- Do you need/want a bluray drive?
- Do you mind paying $50+ a year for Xbox Live or do you want free PSN?
- Which controller do you like better? (Important factor IMO)

And the list goes on... if you can answer most of that then it will be easier to answer your question.

Nothing is wrong with PSN guy above is just trying to start a console war

Not much really. It's got a bad rap lately because it recently had a 3 week outage after it was attacked by hackers who got access to users personal details etc.

As an online service it works fine. Anecdotally, from the experiences on here some games seem to have more issues with lag on PSN than XBL, and it's probably not as polished in areas such as updates, friend invites, chat etc as XBL.

Its a free service, and it's serviceable

I've got a PS3 at the moment only because I had 2 XBox 360's get the ring of death and I couldn't bring myself to purchase a third.

PS3 is an awesome machine, but I miss the 360.

PS3-has a better picture, free online and more exclusive titles (many are shit)

360- has the better online play, downloads ext and the Achievement system is pretty good. Plus it has the exclusive rights to Gears of War 3
