Members of Bigfooty are up in arms over the big fuss that has been made in the wake of Y2K…GOALden Hawk’s 2000th post. The event was expected to cause mass-disruption to the boards, with regular posters such as Mags, The Mase, the Doctor and ant claiming they had even stored a stockpile of unused posts to use on other websites should Bigfooty be unable to cope with the system meltdown.
It is believed up to 40c was spent by Bluey on checking the server would be running this morning, a massive outlay that has now got many people questioning whether the expense was all worth it. Bluey defended the cost, saying that Bigfooty always had to be prepared for these events, and who knows what may have happened if he hadn’t made that phone call to see if the mice running the generators for Bigfooty were still alive.
“It’s a joke”, said Bigfooty regular Sabre_ac. “I mean, who gets all excited about these supposed big events based solely on the POTENTIAL that something massive is going to happen? People who do that are just setting themselves up for a fall.”
Hawk fans in particular felt let down by the non-event of GOALden’s 2000th post. A large group of them had gathered in Southbank to count down to the occasion and celebrate with champagne and scones once the moment arrived. However it appears that GH hasn’t even bothered to thank them in the post itself.
“I’m devastated,” said Chris_23, munching on a scone, “a few of us are going to Glenferrie Oval to protest against this poor decision by GOALden Hawk.” GH later apologised for any unrest he may have caused, promising to hold a meeting on the Hawthorn board later in the week to discuss the reasons behind his decision not to thank all 30,000 Hawthorn members, including the inhabitants of the Melbourne Zoo, individually.
“I’m sorry if I upset anyone by not thanking them personally” said Hawk. “There are just far too many great people on Bigfooty from all clubs. I don’t want to start in case I leave someone out. But to all the regular posters on Bigfooty I say thanks for your great posts and for keeping me entertained at work. Cheers, and I hope there are many more great arguments on the greatest game in the world to come.”
