I'm home now so catching up. I half expected Richardson to be recast but it sounded like they are reusing the same audio for him. I cannot wait for "Mine's on the ruf" 
I do sympathise with those disappointed in the Riki recasting but I get it, they want to use the new VA's likeness. I'll miss Ricky Bobby and his perm, but I'll also move on.
Kanda's VA was obviously going to be recast because from memory of something I read a little ago (and if I'm not confused with another character) his original VA was busted attending an IRL Yakuza funded event or something.

Yeah, Rikiya’s new character model will take some getting used to. He doesn’t look like the same lovable dork he used to, but hey, it shouldn’t take away from a fabulous game not being a struggle to play anymore.

Hamazaki has also been recast and no one seems to be banging on about that. It also adds more to the inevitability of there being a Kiwami 4 too lol.

Ok all caught up. I guess they're leaving any Stranger than Heaven news for the Tokyo Game Show? I thought maybe we'd get a tease about the next main LAD game but I assume now that will be left for 2026 RGG summit with a possible 2027 release.
First up I think I'll play Dark Ties first for chronological reasons. Also wouldn't be surprised if we get a new or tweaked ending on 3 to confirm or not whether "Richardson" in IW is nothing more than Easter egg, and to maybe reuse Mine in a future game (more of a common fan request).
One thing I like what they've done with Kamurocho that wasn't necessary but it was to match the colour palette of the Y3 and 4 Kamurocho. They could have just taken the latest Kamurocho and tweaked it for the period but it's a nice nod to the original 3 Kamurocho.
Also not to keep moving the goal posts but I'm convinced Kiwami 4 is inevitable now. They won't leave Y4 isolated on the old engine and they did mention a few times that Kiwami 3 is for new fans as well as old. Interest in the series has grown since the latest games. And while I don't think this one is necessary I also wouldn't be surprised if one day there is a Kiwami 5 to round it out. That would be a massive undertaking though with the extra cities, but once combat is made for Akiyama and Saejima in Kiwami 4 then that's one less thing to work on. They mentioned additional voice localisation for K1 and K2 so I think that's another reason there would be long term plans for Kiwami 4 and 5 and then everything from K2 onwards would be on Dragon engine. Typically I'm not fond of remakes but it doesn't seem to affect RGG's ability to create new content as well.

I don't think 5 needs the Kiwami treatment. It's dated, but still plays alright. 4 could definitely do with an upgrade.

I agree, 5 is on par with 0 and K1 even as the oldest of the 3. But if Kiwami 4 happens not only for age reasons but due to wanting to English VA and appealing to their growing new player base I wouldn't be surprised if it happens. Personally I'll be absolutely content once there is a Kiwami 4 and I can play with Mr Sukyuu Finantsu in glorious dragon engine. 4 actually plays pretty well still, way better than 3. The same thing lets 4 down as it does 3 though and that's Kamurocho itself and a lot of the systems like menus and NPC spawning.

Yeah, Kiwami 4 is so happening. Yakuza fans wish this stuff into existence. RGG: “Sure. Why the hell not?”
Yakuza 0, Kiwami and Kiwami 2 are all getting dropped on current gen soon. Kiwami 3 was announced yesterday. I think it’s only a matter of time that Yakuza 4-6 will release on current gen at some stage. Either straight ports or a Kiwami remake (4 more likely than 5 and 6).

The more I think about the possibility of 5, the more I think it might just get some sort of engine port rather than a full remake because I'm still convinced that at some point they will want to give it some treatment just to incorporate English VA and not be jarring for new players playing chronological after a K4. Hopefully K2 and 6 get a proper optimisation and fps patch for all platforms too.
As much as I'll miss the perm I've already moved on, but some of these are still good lol

Nothing has been confirmed of course but from what I’ve gathered Kiwami and Kiwami 2’s current gen ports aren’t going to have English VA like the Yakuza 0 directors cut and Kiwami 3. I wouldn’t mind English VA for every game for new players, but I don’t know if RGG are doing that for ports (Kiwami 1-2, possible Yakuza 5 port) like they are doing for new games like Kiwami 3 and the Ichiban games.

Are you going to replay 3 before K3? I think I'll only be able to fit in 0-k2 which I had planned anyway by Feb.

Most definitely will play them again, but I’ll probably wait to do it around January now. In time for K3.
I don’t see myself playing Y3 again. K3 will be my go to game from now on.

Why on earth would you torture yourself like that? K1 and 2 (and 0) I can understand, but Y3? Erghh.
