Cant wait to see yakka and rusling in the flesh, reckon they might be alright.

The shaw would have to be heath i'd say.
Dunno bout that. Brayden was sheiBenhaus in the weeks prior. Heaff was goodish. I'd reckon Brayden would be the one dropped and definitely the one in need of a run to find something remotely resembling form.

Agree bout Yakka and Rus. I'm in luv with em, and I've never even seen em play!!!

gosh, thanks for this; yes good to be hanging out for small mercies in Willi ressies. Rusling on a dodgey ankle kicks five and takes hold of the game again; Yakka has been in their bests the whole time, plus 3 goals this time. Pity for Hall and BMorrison that they haven't yet made a game stand up and dance; hope they can by the end of the year - any game.

Not trying to make excuses for them with no knowledge of what happened, but I'm pretty sure both have been playing defence, so if they're not standing out, that doesn't necessarily mean much.

I reckon they're both too slow for AFL defensive spots. Hall has a chance of making it as a ruckman IMO. Morrison's future doesn't look too flash at this stage.

Anyone know how much ground time Didak was given???

Would've been Brayden Shaw based on his performance for WIlly 1s the other week.

Thats 3 weeks in a row Rusling and Yak have played well in the magoos.

happy days are not far away

Why is Dids in the seconds? I assume the seniors have a bye?

If The Booch and Rusling aren't playing next week the Willy brains trust have rocks in their head.
Oh and go THE BOOCH.
Does anyone know what kind of position Rusling is playing? Key position? It seems he is very much a Kouta-like player, 189cm 84kgs (might have to put on some weight but not too much), strong looking build and can run like the wind. I'd like to see him actualyl play so I can assess his ball-getting ability and skills.

Surely playing only 11 of your players in the VFL and the rest in the reserves is negatively impacting the development of Collingwood youngsters? If its only the best for Collingwood, shouldn't they have their own team in the VFL? where ALL there reserve players can play?

I agree we should have a stand alone team but we have nowhere to play.
If we could bring the old curtain raisers back that would be a good idea.
Also I doubt the VFL would even accept our bid, it would also be hard to administer with only 44 players on our list which means we would end up with having around 10 vfl players which brings back the same problem that we have to have a certain number of VFL players on the ground.

I disagree with this statement and also with jabso's comments.

The system works very well.

1) This week there was a bye, so that's why Daks played in the ressies. Yakka and Rusling have earned a call up, but why not give them another run.

2) Guys should only be playing VFL seniors if they're good enough. I don't agree that they should be out there stinking, which is what's happened with Brayden Shaw and Billy Morrison. It's not good for their confidence or game development, even if it's at a higher level than the ressies.

3) You will have 23 players playing AFL every week. That leaves you with 15 players for Willi. You will unfortunately have a float of at least 3-4 players (about 7 at the minute). Theen you're practically down to 11 or 12 Pie players to select for Willi. Then you'll have a couple of developing talls or skinny or recently injured kids who need a run at VFL ressies level. Williamstown will generally be able to accomodate all Collingwood players...if they're good enough!

The fact is, the cream will rise to the top at Willi. Rowe was playing VFL ressies at this time last year and is now, despite Malthouse's ******ed game time allowance, comfortably in our best 22. Travis Cloke, Egan, Yakka, Rusling, are all first year players literally commanding VFL seniors spots, in some cases, AFL spots. If Brayden, Billy, Hall etc. can't even command a VFL seniors spot, then ******** them off.

I don't think that the quota argument is in any way valid. It's up to individuals to prove their worth and I think the system is very good for us. It's now a matter of correctly recruiting talented individuals.

Well Figgy your points have swayed me a bit. A Collingwood reserves team would be a bit irrational, and I can now only see one advantage to it, that is the players are around the same players all the time (eg. Lonie gets dropped and meets some Willy players for the first time which is not good) and they will be able to develop good team work skills and even be able to adapt to a gameplan similar to Collingwood seniors.
However players should be able to work with the Willy players now that I think about it otherwise their mental approach isn't AFL standard anyway.

I think my thoughts RE players playing at Willy reserves are a bit hasty. If both these players are playing in defence then it is hard to impress when your team is winning by 100+ points. Just because I can't see how well they are going I get frustrated but you would have faith in the Willy/Collingwood coaching staff to actually truely gauge how well they are travelling.

What do you guys think about Billy Morrison he has been at the club for awhile but yet hasnt made the senoir squad.....
he is nothing but ********

What about Tom Davidson if he turns out ********, magpies will be pretty ********ed because they put so much efort keeping him fit and trying to bring him back to the squad. But hopefully he turns out good

The way Billy is going this year he will be delisted however if he shows ANYTHING at Willy seniors in the year I would give him another year. Big forwards like himself need time and remember he is only 3/4 months older than some of last years recruits (actually I think he is younger than one of our recruits).
