What do you want as your regular 2006 lineup?

This is what I want after we trade pick 1 and 2 for Fevola. I am willing to bypass the draft in order to replace Neitz.

FF: Robertson Neitz Fevola (may seem a bit tall but Neitz stays in the goal square, Robertson leads out from the goalsquare and Fevola does a bit of both and leads up to CHF because he can kick them from long range)

HF: Davey Miller Green (I want Green to not be isolated at FF but not spending too much time in the middle. Miller to be a permanent CHF and no trips down back)

C: Sylvia Moloney Yze (Only if Yze is fully fit and no more free ride, if he plays ******** then he gets dropped)

HB: Bell Rivers Brown (Bell and Brown should give good run. Rivers will be a permanent CHB and one of the first players picked each week)

FB: Whelan Carroll Fergeson (Still our weakest line, Fergy needs bulk and Carroll needs composure. Whelan is alright)

Foll: White Bruce Johnstone (Bruce needs bulk and courage, White and TJ are fine)

Int: Jamar C.Johnson McLean Wheatley (White needs support and Holland isn't the answer even though he tries and tries. CJ and McLean will be good through the midfield rotation and Wheatley can go down back which can allow Brown or Bell to go onto a wing)

Holland is still in the equation, as is McDonald who may be in the first 22, Rigoni may get a few games.

Dunn and Bate will debut hopefully.

FF: Davey, Fevola, Neitz
HF: Motlop, Miller, Robertson
C: Bruce, Moloney, Johnstone
HB: Wheatley, Rivers, Brown
FB: Whelan, Carroll, Nicholson
R: White, McLean, McDonald

B: Holland, Ferguson, Rigoni, Sylvia

FB: Whelan, Carroll, Ferguson
HB: Wheatley, Rivers, Brown
C: Sylvia, Moloney, Johnstone
HF: Davey, Miller, Robertson
FF: Yze, Neitz, Holland
FOLL: White, Bruce, Luke Ablett
I/C: Bell, McLean, Junior, Jamar

The trade I would like is Green for Luke Ablett. A receiver has to go, and I'm sorry to say but Green would be my choice. Ablett has good skills, can win the footy in close and is a good tagger which is what we need. Yze has been carrying injury and he is more dangerous up forward, Bruce should start modelling himself on Hird and TJ is hands off.
I feel bad about Green, but for the team to go forward unless one of our four main receivers (Yze, Green, Bruce, TJ) start getting the hard ball or McLean and Sylvia develop more we will have to trade for a tough midfielder.

I'm not using trades, just going by the current list.

B: Whelan - Carroll - Ferguson

HB: Brown - Rivers - Wheatley

C: Green - Moloney - Johnstone

HF: Yze - Miller - Robertson

F: Davey - Neitz - Sylvia

R: White - McLean - Bruce

Int: C. Johnson - Bizzell - McDonald - Holland

I hope I didn't overlook anyone.

I won't pick a side, but:

- Carroll should be starting Full Back.

- Bate and CJ should be in the 22.

- Sylvia, with another pre season under his belt, will be ready to play 100 minutes in the centre every game.

Only thing I might not agree with is Bate. Looks the goods yes, and if he impresses alot over the summer, then he should be given a run. But he still might be too raw for ones footy.

Sylvia will be primed with a pre season under his belt, but I'd still spell him up forward where he can be equally as dangerous.

but that is just adding to a growing list of medium sized forwards that we have working out of the goalquare..... at his height you need a lot of experience to be able to be damaging as a forward. it is only this year that robertson, same height, has turned into a consistantly damaging forward.

in the lions game sylvia showed that he really is a gun inside midfielder and that's where I want him. Our forward line is great in comparison to our midfield

Badly need another ruck option. White will soon become limited in his game. His advantages are his leap and mobility. Getting older will reduce these two facets to his game. Plus he won't be able to ruck all day by himself. Maybe get away with it in 2006, but after that, he'll need to have spells on the bench or up forward (which I don't think he's all that good at contrary to popular opinion).

Still waiting for Jamar to step up and Johnson's shown a bit, but really only a bit. I doubt Jamar can take over no. 1 duties so maybe Johnson is the best bet.

I completely agree with that statement, White is starting to get on a bit and he is no where near as effective because of the new ruck rule. Gee I would love Jolly back. Jamar I thought would take the next step this year but he has really just gone backwards. We miss Scott Thompson so much he is so good at getting the ball and it kills me to see him at Adelaide.

How would it be too have some of these guys back in our team
Thompson, Bishop, Bassett, Jolly, Simmonds.

Another thing is that to get Bizzell we gave away a draft pick that ended up being James Kelly.

This is how I would have the demons in 2006

B: Whelan, Carroll, Ferguson
HB: Wheatley, Rivers, Yze
C: Bruce, Sylvia, Johnstone
HF: Green, Miller, Davey
F: Robertson, Neitz, Bizzell
Foll: White, Mclean, Moloney
Int: McDonald, P.Johnson, Bell, C.Johnson

HB: Bell - Rivers - Wheatley
C: Moloney - Sylvia - Yze
HF: Bruce - Miller - Green
F: Robertson - Neitz - Davey
Foll: White - Johnstone - McLean
I/C: Jamar/Smith/P.Johnson - C.Johnson - Brown - McDonald

Depth Players: Bizzell - Holland - Bate - Nicholson - P.Johnson/Jamar/Smith - Motlop - Newton - Dunn & possibly Rigoni.

Bate didn't look too raw playing for Sandy against the ants. Neither did CJ. they were better than some players who get games for melbourne no matter what. Raw smaw. You have to take a punt sometime otherwise you end up like this year, filling the team with fringe players and forgetting the future.

Just my take on it. He is only 18 and spent some time with the Sandy reserves.

Will get a game in 2006, but doubt it will be a regular one.

Totally agree with that. He is still very young and will be given about 3-5 games next year to see how he goes. Having seen him sparely, what i've noticed is his kicking style tends to fail him when under pressure. He has a rather high ball drop which under pressure causes him to make skill errors. If/when he improves this he should be a quality AFL player, ideally as a tall midfielder in the Ling mould (and no i don't make that comparison because they both have red hair ;) )

Pretty similar to CFH's.

If we were to play tomorrow and everyone was fit:

B: Whelan - Carroll - Ferguson
HB: Brown - Rivers - Wheatley
C: Green - Moloney - Johnstone
HF: Yze - Miller - Sylvia
F: Davey - Neitz - Robertson
R: White - McLean - Bruce
I: C.Johnson - McDonald - Bizzell - Holland
E: Bell - Read - Bate

Hopefully Dunn, PJ and Jamar can press for games.

2006: no trade's considered

B: Whelan Nicho Wheatley
HB: Brown Rivers yze
C: Bruce JMac trav
HF: davey Mill Silvia
FF: Green Nieter ROBO!!
R: White Maloney Mclean
int: Bell biz read holland

First in: carroll holland Jamar rigoni fergo

TIME TO GO: godfrey heffernan ward williams

D-FENCE: Yze to the back line would add some much needed class/calmness down there. He would also stay down when the rest of our backline goes up for the smother.
MidMagic: i love our midfield depth. If we can get a good rotation going and keep them fit there as good as anyone. THINK ABOUT IT: Bruce trav green yze maloney mclean macdonald read silvia bell brown davey
forwards: miller will step up and start playing deep aswell as up the ground adding some goals. ROBO will kick 70 again, nieter 125 :p

:thumbsu:

Trade Green, you must be joking. Play this guy permanently on the forward line.

IF, Robbo (40 goals+), Neitz [if fit] (40 goals+), Davey (20 goals+), Green (30 goals), Yze (20 goals). Combined in 2005 they have kicked over 200 goals.

Thats a pretty potent forward line.

Holland, Miller, and Ferguson (when required), can at least rack up another 30 between them.

Midfield should kick another 50, with White resting more often in the forward line i.e. Neitz off the ground.

And this is all on our bad day.

DO NOT TRADE GREEN.

C: Bruce, Moloney, Sylvia
HF: Green, Miller, Davey

Agreed, 40+ goal forward, forget the wing except for short bursts.

Davey will move up the ground further next year as his endurence improves. If he could consistantly reach the a level simular to the Geelong game he will add and extra dimension to our midfield. Vey exciting.
