Free Agency was so kind to me at the end of my first season with my created team, so many talented players in the free agents pool to pick from.

Settled on Jamal Crawford and Lamar Odom and signed them both to 4 year deals, so my team looks like this.

PG - ????? <- My Created Player
SG - Jamal Crawford
SF - Joey Graham <- Traded a 2nd round pick and Kirk Snyder and got Graham and someone who I can't remember at the moment.
PF - Lamar Odom
C - Andrew Bogut <- Got him in a trade for a 1st round pick and decided to develop his balling handling skills, got his speed and quickness into the 80's and his ball handling is up to C+.

Sam Cassell <- Really really like Sam Cassell in 2k9, I find his inside game and his outside shooting very very reliable.
Nathan Jawai <- Traded for Jawai just because, cost me bugger all as well and he's developing his inside game quite nicely.
Richard Hendrix <- Hendrix has been dominating under the basket.
Patrick Ewing Jr.<- Picked up Ewing Jr. to fill out the roster.
Dion York
Jack Jordan <- Got him in the draft after my first season.

Not a superstar team by any means but not bad for a created team that's only existed for a season, also won the NBA Championship last season with my CAP, Bogut and a team full of free agents I signed up to fill out the roster.

I love this game.

Durant is a beast in this game, you gotta hold onto him!

Yeah he is good, and I did have him for the first season but I have westbrook and mayo who shoot a good % from beyond the arc so I needed a strong slasher like James who can drive and dish, and also post-up down low. Mayo is unstoppable from 3, the guy hardly misses an open shot!! Mind you his 3pt rating is at 99 now because I've been developing it every year.

[Update]: I now have Melo! I'm at full cap space now and the team is looking real strong. Had to trade away Green (expiring contract-would have been a huge contract to keep him) and Oneal to make it work, but got some backups in the process.

PG: Westbrook -94 rating
SG: Mayo - 95 rating
SF: LeBron - 99 rating
PF: Anthony - 97 Rating
C: Shaw - 85 rating

Bench:
C.Lee
Hayes
the rest are prospects and fillers...

Who is your backup 4?

Hayes plays the 3 and 4. Melo and James play big minutes so I tend to have hayes in when one of them are out.

I was wrong before, I actually do have cap space, so I'll be buying a backup 4 and another guard during the free agency. I'm looking at Landry as an option at 4, so then I can slot Hayes in at the 3. Not sure which guard to go after... I'll have to check the free agency market when it opens.

Does anyone else have salary cap problems when trying to trade? I can just never trade because whatever team I select, the cap is always way over

You need to match salaries. If your trying to trade for a superstar, you will need to offer up some big expiring contracts - plus maybe some picks too.

Hey,

So i was playing a league game last night against a mate and the game came up with that waiting for opponent countdown about 90 seconds into the game, it got to 20 secs then the game came back for a little bit, my mate was winning 9-6 but then the game cut out again, the countdown got to 20 secs then the error popped up saying the game was disconnected or some garbage. When i went back to the lobby it had given me the win even though i was losing 6 - 9, was that because it was my mates connection that cut out?

Is there a way to clear that result so we can replay the game?

Thanks

I am now only 2 games away from the playoffs with my Bulls team, sealed a playoff spot but most of the season has been played on Rookie and started to get pretty easy. I played my last game on Pro and lost at home to the Bobcats...

It was only just before this last game that I noticed you can assign coaching during the week so I have a question, and I'm struggling to find an answer on Google.

Is it possible to automatically assign coaching, or do I have to change that every week? That would get a bit tedious I think and I'd rather my coaches sort that out despite their low ratings at the moment.

I think there was an option you could select before you began the season which was in amongst the 'auto-draft' and 'auto-trade' options... I think...

I haven't played in a little while, but I would imagine that you would be able to change it - if not mid-season, certainly after a season is done.

Just to clarify, are you referring to the thing that pops up each week that says 'would you like to assign training now' after you sim thru to the start of a new week?

To be honest I haven't noticed anything like that happen yet, but I sim through the NBA Headlines and play games that way, is that how you do it?

It was only when I went to Coaching and then Practice that I noticed you could assign coaching each day. Also I noticed Development and it looks like I have to actually control the players in that myself similar to the pre-season training camps (I only had a quick look at that and didn't really do any training), is that correct?

What does that actually do?

I've never had to actually control the players in mid-season traning as far as I am aware.

I view the season thru the weekly calendar, and sim thru the days until I have a game.

Gah... I'm struggling to remember it, and I left my PS3 controller at a mates place so I can't check it for ya! I think Funky will know the answer...

Development is different. You get a certain amount of D-points (7?), which permanently increase your players stats, if you succeed in the drill.

Training increases your stats for 1, 2 or 3 days, depending on how hard the session is. Dont ever choose "Shoot-around" though, as it screws your previous game. Changed a one point win into a 30 point loss, where I apparently didnt score in the second half.

And im pretty sure you can set it to be auto. You just need to go to your franchise settings page, and you can adjust all the options - just like if you had done it pre-season.

I think I might try a new franchise mode. Someone choose a team for me, ill give them a crack.

Development is where you control the player, you get 7 developments points, and there are a range of things such as mid-range shots, post offense, shot blocking, passing etc. that cost 2-3 points. You have to do different drills depending on what activity you choose, and if you complete it it will increase your players stats in that catergory. Well worthwhile, pretty much like the pre-season camp. The development points reload every month

The Cavs, but you have to trade LeBron...

Thats too easy! That team is talented even without him. Mo straight jacking all game long. :p

Edit: Okay so im going to give this a go. Ive traded LeBron for some pieces - Mike Miller and Ryan Gomes. Obviously under market value (maybe... :p), but gotta make this challenging.

Depth chart:

1. Williams, Gibson, West
2. West, Miller, Kinsey, Pavlovic
3. Wally, Miller, Gomes
4. Gomes, Hickson
5. Z, Varejao, Wallace

Should be interesting. Playing 4 minute quarters on AS difficulty.

Same.

And I havent played it for about 2-3 months. My Xbox broke and I wont replace it until mid-June. Its getting hard now

Love this game...

I startes a new association last night...

Miami Heat of course...

My Team:

D Fisher - veteran pg leader
some young pg i'm gonna try trade to get chalmers back - young player to mold
FA sharpshooter to play limited mins

Wade - freak
Cook - sharpshooter

T Ariza - def specialist plus i am going to work on his 3pt shot
Moon - def plus reb

Beasley - gun youngster work on his def
Wallace - adds def and exp to the 4-5 spot
Young PF can't think of his name - young player to mold

D Howard - freak
D Hibbert - adds height and a true c to the list

Traded JON and chalmers for Howard plus scrap
Traded Haslem and scrap for Ariza and Fisher
Traded Big contracts from bad players for wallace to add def depth at the 4-5 spot
Traded Blout and someone.. Think it was Wright for Hibbert to add height and a true C to the list
Try to trade young PG back plus pick for Chalmers

Haven't played a game yet as just trying to get chalmers back and work on Beas def...

Nice list though i think.. Future: Chalmers, Wade, Ariza, Beas, Howard, cook, hibbert looks good....

HA! Miller and Gomes... McHale > You pal!

Haha yeah it makes the team so ordinary. No point trading for another superstar though, would be too easy. ;)

Played two games so far - unsurprisingly its been two losses. Ive got auto rotations on, so everyone in that depth chart is getting minutes. Both were close, I couldnt execute at the end of the game. Williams and Wally arent that clutch...

I forgot how annoying it is playing the computer - they just jack up threes or drive to the rack. Gotta change up my sliders a bit I guess.

Not default, but they havent been fine tuned. My game had to be wiped a few months back, so I only put a half-arsed effort in. I mainly only play against my mates.

Ahh ok. Well I am glad to see you took the challenge, will be interesting to see how you go. I can see McHale panicking after they drop their first couple of games and offering you LeBron back for Mike Miller and a 2014 2nd rounder!
