An odd question, but I'm really curious as to your answers.

So what if someone came to you and said:

A few years from now you'll be a huge rock star. Everyone will know your name and your music. You get to live the rock star life: touring, travel, the works, as long as you live.

What if that same person then asked, that in order to get this life you must give up a few things in the meantime.

Your social life. Your friends. No more going out at all except for essentials (groceries, etc). So, basically you have to stay at home a year or so.

Would you do it?

done it, not all it's cracked up to be!

Interesting question, and of sorts I've been kind of going through that type of scenario for several months really (not the rock star bit ;))
I had to give up a hell of a lot of things when I took on the two jobs I currently have.

I'm now more financial and job secure than I have ever been at any stage in my life, but I no longer get to see my friends much at all, had to give up bowling (I'd been a player for 26 years), it's cost me relationships, I don't get to see my daughter very much anymore, my social life in general is pretty much non-existant - because of the long and quite odd hours I put in.

I'm very relieved to be rid of the financial pressures I once faced not too long ago, but I wouldn't exactly say I'm overly happy with my life at this very point in time either.
I wouldn't mind changing jobs to where I can work more conventional hours but that won't be happening at the moment I don't think.

To answer your question, I'd probably only do that if I was desperately unhappy with my situation prior to being given that choice.
If I was happy with things before hand then no, I wouldn't do it.

Happiness is the spice of life as they say....
