Just beat BioShock; making progress! :p

Well, actually I'm not, since my PS4 is coming in the next week and I bought a Vita.

Small update: started Deus Ex and Dead Island.

Then I realised PSOne classics are compatible with the Vita and 100%ed Crash Team Racing for no apparent reason other than the fact that it's ****ing CTR.

Okay, doing this seriously. This is what I expect to have played by the end of 2014 that I already own. It also includes what I am currently playing (marked by a *)

I'm being absolutely ruthless now. Just played and uninstalled a dozen games in the last month with barely an hour's play each.

Victoria II, Europa Universalis III, Stealth Bastard, Dear Esther, Defcon, Half Life 2, Magicka, Star Wolves 3, War of the Roses, Omerta and Killing Floor all tried and discarded.

Now I'm going to ruin it by playing Expeditions: Conquistador, which is a game I expect to really get into.

I remember in the 90s getting a handful of games a year and every single game was like squeezing the lemon for the last morsel of gameplay possible. These days, for those my age born in the 80s and now working with plenty of disposable income, you hardly get to appreciate a game before moving on to the next. Only myself to blame though I guess :)

It's not just the disposable income.... It's that combined with the prices. Since the Thanksgiving sales I've spent $422.78 (after purchasing Wizardry 6-8 bundle on Steam) on individual (not counting humble bundles and the like) games and have gotten about 130ish games. Contrast that sort of money in the 1980s-1990s and you'd be lucky to have a dozen games.

I've pretty much gone through a heap of games I had to beat and gotten rid of them.

I have alot less now:

The Last of us on Survivor plus mode
Dead Space 2 on Zealot mode (**** the 3 saves only one)
Dead Space on all modes after normal. (haven't beaten at all on PS3 only 360.)
Dead Space 3 on Pure Survival and Classic modes
Dark Souls (originally beat this on 360. I need to beat it on ps3.)
Silent Hill Downpour and Homecoming (probably both just on normal. I beat them on 360 originally.)
Uncharted 1,2,3 (Basically, I need to collect all the trophies for these games, as I left them with an old PSN account.)
Siren: Blood Curse
Jurassic Park (The telltale one and it's quite boring.)
Super Mario 3d world
Super Mario Bros 2
Zelda: A link between worlds
Mario Tennis
Dead Rising 3 on nightmare mode.

I also have some ps2 games that I want to play from Fatal Frame to Haunting Ground.

I have a month off work coming up so I will be definitely spamming this backlog then. :D

Games I've completed:
PC:
Warcraft III
GTA Vice City
NFS Most Wanted

PS1:
Crash Bandicoot 2+3
Crash Bash
Crash Team Racing
Donald Duck Quack Attack

PS2:
Kingdom Hearts 1+2
GTA San Andreas
Burnout 2
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4
DBZ Budokai 2

PSP:
Gangs of London
GTA Vice City Stories
The Simpsons Game
Family Guy
Virtua Tennis 3
AFL Challenge

Wii:
New Super Mario Bros Wii

Well i became a PC gamer just before the Christmas period and now have a healthy backlog (for me) of games to finish before the next sale. lol

Alan Wake's American Nightmare
Aliens vs Predator classic (2000)
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Dark Fall 1: The Journal
Dark Fall 2: Lights out
Divine Divinity
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Fallout 1
Fallout 2
Fallout Tactics
Gothic
Gothic II: Gold Edition
Gothic 3
GTA: Vice City
Monaco
Portal 2
Postal
Postal 2

Some of them are heaps short and can be done in 1 sitting like Alan Wakes American Nightmare, AvP classic, both Dark Fall's and Fallout 1. Done chunks of Postal, Portal 2 and Monaco. Going to wait on Skywind before doing any of Morrowind. Not so keen on doing the Gothic games at this point. So maybe not too bad.

Over the last month or so have completed Alan Wake, Portal, Slender: The Arrival, Trine and Waking Mars.

Also have games like ARMA II, ARMA:AO and DayZ, Audiosurf, Age of Empires II: HD, Team Fortress 2, DotA2 which i can play every so often.

Is everyone here a completionist? I just find myself playing through the single player and finishing the story mode and putting the disc aside unless there's multiplayer replayability. I don't usually trophy/achievement hunt or try to complete the game 100%. The only game where I've wanted to try and do everything is Far Cry 3 because the big island is so awesome to explore. I never find myself wanting to collect everything in a game.

Depends on the game, but these days i just complete the main story. I find it too much of a grind going after collectibles, looking at a map finding i'm missing one and having to double check everything etc... You are right regarding Far Cry 3 though, the map is awesome.

I used to be a completionist whore back in my teenage years. If Trophies/Achievements had of been around in the PS1 or PS2 eras I would've had a massive score.

These days I play through the main story and only go back if the game is something special, Far Cry 3 & Resogun are the only two games I ever got the Platinum for and that's mainly because exploring the island of FC3 was just so rewarding I had everything nearly done by the time I'd finished the game. So I just ran around for a few extra hours because the game was so much fun.

I plan on trying to get everything in TLOU but I haven't found time to complete my second playthrough.

Funk me...my list just doesn't seem to dissipate, no matter how hard i try.

This is just a sample, cos I can't be bothered listing each and every.

Diablo 3
Skyrim
XCOM The Bureau
Dawn of War 2 - Chaos Rising
Metro Last Light
MGS Peace Walker
Ni No Kuni
Dark Souls
Borderlands 2
Hitman Absolution
AC Black Flag
Alan Wake
Dragons Dogma
Bastion
Legend of Grimrock
Torchlight 2
Darksiders 2
Star Ocean
Mass Effect 3
etc, etc...

If I didn't buy another game this year, I still wouldn't have finished these by the end of 2015, let alone 2014.

I'm a massive completionist in terms of collectibles and such. To the point where it causes me physical pain when people ignore visible items/collectibles because they just can't be bothered. :P

I know that feeling…I got through about three games from my backlog, then went and bought Lego Marvel (PS4), Need For Speed Rivals (PS4), Lightning Returns (PS3) and pre-ordered inFamous: Second Son (PS4) and South Park (PS3).

Yeah, and with South Park, Thief, Dark Souls 2 coming out, some of those good games are bound to be left behind through no fault of their own.

Going to get back into games next month.

AC Black Flag
AC Unity
Shadow of Mordor
Far Cry 4
Sleeping Dogs

And whatever else catches my eye in the bargain bins.

AC Unity and Far Cry 4 still in plastic. Only half played Sunset Overdrive and Horizon 2. Halo MCC and Metro Redux only sparingly touched and about a third into Borderlands pre-sequel. Likely to grab LBP3 tonight. None of this will be touched as long as I'm knocking out DA:I and GTA Online..... and work is going bananas with overtime out the wazoo. 3 weeks xmas/new year break can't come soon enough. The missus can babysit my mum when she comes up from Tassie over that time because I have some gaming to catch back up on.
